BC Women's Hockey 2024-2025: Embrace The Chaos

Good to be back, party people.

Pretty nice start to the second half. Again I thought we looked the better team against UConn -- third straight time this year -- so it's disappointing not to pull a better result out of that one. Losing the shootout is whatever, we're awful in those, but really felt like we should have won that game outright.

The two big shutouts against Maine and UNH were nice though. The gap from 4th to 5th in this league is extraordinary and you really have to expect a win in all of those games, but yeah, credit where it's due, getting big shutout wins was no doubt worthy of praise.

Beanpot tomorrow night. I'm not gonna lie its been a long time since I've been this fired up for a BCWIH game. I haven't been able to say this for a long time, but I truly believe BC is the best team in the tournament this year. Yes BU is good and the thought of playing them at TDG in the finals would be incredible. However, to get there we have to beat NU at Northeastern which wont be easy, but, having watched them play NU earlier in the season I don't think there is any question that BC is the better team. Here are my thoughts about the matchup.
  • BC is way better up front and they need to show it tomorrow, BC has the best top 6 in the league and the 3rd line is solid.
  • Newhook and Roy need to show up in a big way. Both 5th year players came in with huge expectations but unfortunately have been unable to turn this thing around. That can all change starting tomorrow night.
  • BC has a good core group of 4 D and I expect them to play a lot tomorrow night. Kinger needs to coach to win. Play 4 D if you have to. Too important.
  • Both teams have very good goalies so I expect another tight, low scoring game.
  • IMO the power play might be the key to winning tomorrow night Both teams have surprisingly weak PPs ( BC .193/ NU .116) so I think whatever team executes on the PP will win the game.
I have been talking for years about BC record against NU over the last 5-6 year period and it gets me so angry. Our record is so bad vs NU that I really don't want to take the time and look it up. For most of those games I expected NU to win because they were just better. NU had Mueller, Fraenkel, Aurard, Murphy and we didn't. Well guess what ? Those players are all gone and its a pretty even matchup so lets go out and win a damn Beanpot.

BC wasn't ready to play. Game was over in first period. Unacceptable. I'm really pissed. Will collect my thoughts and hopefully calm down before I post tomorrow but BCWIH need a new coach. Enough is enough
 
Well I was hoping a good nights sleep might help me calm down a bit after last nights embarrassing performance by BCWIH last night in the Beanpot but unfortunately that is not the case. What a disaster.

I didn't think this was possible but a this is a new low for BCWIH in my book. And with all the frustration that we have experienced over the last 5-6-7 years that is quite a statement. How BC could not be ready for a game like that is beyond comprehension. The game was over in the first 10 minutes. BC looked lost. BC looked unprepared. BC looked scared. BC looked like they were playing a game out in Worcester against Holy Cross (who we have lost to 2X). This is the biggest event in women's hockey ! Mathews was absolutely rocking ! HOW CAN WE NOT BE READY TO PLAY ???? Give NU credit they were ready to play and they were playing like it was for the Stanley Cup finals. NU was extremely well prepared. BC was not. Unacceptable. Hard to believe

Its time for a new coach. Enough is enough. How much more of this do we have to watch ? BC has now gone 7 years without winning the Beanpot. I am tired of watching Kinger get outcoached in every single big game. Its a joke. Is anyone else embarrassed about this ? Why is Blake James accepting this ? If this was the men's team Kinger would have been fired a long time ago. Please don't tell me things are going to get better because they don't. Please don't tell me about the good recruits that BC has coming in because pretty much every recruit we bring in gets WORSE at BC. Why would any good player stay at BC when all they are going to do is get worse ? It happens year after year, team after team, recruit after recruit !!

I don't want to hear it anymore from tony the tiger or anyone else why Kinger deserves more time. Her time is over. Maybe she was a good coach 10 years ago when there were very few quality girls hockey programs but not anymore. A new coach will change everything. The culture, the recruiting, the strategy, EVERYTHING. We need a completer overhaul. This is not personal. This is Boston College Women's Ice Hockey !

Come on Blake James wake up ! Pretend this is the BC Mens Hockey program - that is where the BCWIH program wants to be and we are NOT EVEN CLOSE.
 
I guarantee Kinger has them ready this weekend to blow out a pathetic Vermont team. Then its all about getting them ready for that all important Beanpot consolation game vs the worst Harvard team I've ever seen.

FYI. I'm still ticked off about Tuesday night.

Reading this thread had me interested in this game, so why not. You can be mad, but BC is just not a good team. There is not a coach in NCAA hockey that could coach this team into the top 10. They have played most of this game up a player and when not, the Pathetic team appears to be the better team.
 
sorry CROSS BAR but you don't know what you are talking about. I agree BC is not a good team but BC is the most talented team in hockey east and its really not that close. They have 2 great lines 4 very solid D and a good goalie. This is why I am so frustrated. The coach continues to take every team she coaches and somehow make them play worse as the season goes on. And a big game ?? forget about it they lose every time.

CROSS BAR Ok you got me but I think you understand the point I was trying to make. We agree BC is not a good team again this year. However IMO they should be a good team. I have watched every team in Hockey East play and they have the most talented roster (along with BU) Its the coaching unfortunately. I'm just hoping they can avoid another collapse in the second half of the season like they seem to do every year.

Big game vs Harvard at 430 today at TD Garden in front of maybe 25-30 people before the championship game which will probably have 12000 people. So flippin embarrassing
 
I see BC landed a SSM player, Jillian Klein for 26-27. Hails from Alaska from what I can tell. That's a a non eastern player for you.
 
They've also got Mila Advani coming in from SSM for 26-27 - she's from California, if tracking non eastern players is a thing . . .
 
I don't want to hear about all the great recruits BCWIH has coming in anymore. You are starting to sound like TonyTheTiger20. It just doesn't matter. We have a coach that doesn't know what to do with them. These players come to BC and not only don't get better ....THEY GET WORSE. It happens with every recruiting class that comes to BC. Look at this years graduating seniors. Did any of them get better over 4 -5 years ? Nope. Did a bunch of them have disappointing careers because they never really developed as players ? Yes ! A bunch of them. It happens with every class and its so darn frustrating.

Why would any high end player come to play hockey at BC ? You tell me. Why have so many left the program over the years ? You tell me. Are any of the current players on the BC roster going to leave ? God I hope not but I would understand why they would want to leave. Many of these kids want to play on an Olympic team some day and that just simply wont happen playing at BC.

We need a new coach. A new coach will change EVERYTHING

The debate over the summer was the idea that she wasn't trying very hard or just not successful at recruiting outside New England (yet not recruiting local studs like Casey O'Brien or Cami Kronish (who actually was interested in going to BC)), that's why I posted the player committing from SSM who hails from Alaska. What she does with the players once she gets them is a whole other story that BC fans can tell.

You gotta recruit good players to get better and at least bc is getting some good commitments.
 
Good on you all for trying, but given events in Providence, I doubt you'll find a receptive audience.
 
BC has had good players for years and look what they have to show for it. Nothing. Read my previous post. They cant develop players. In fact most get worse playing at BC

Just a terrible loss today at Providence. Inexplicable that the coach is playing 2 freshman defenseman in games like this who simply have no business being on the ice at the D1 level. NONE

They better win tomorrow
