BC Women's Hockey 2024-2025: Embrace The Chaos

I watched. The fact that we need to celebrate a 3rd place finish in such a weak conference kind of speaks for itself but when you're looking at a possible 5th place finish a week ago I guess its good news. Correct me if I'm wrong but this has to BCs highest finish in Hockey East in quite a while - don't get me going please :)
Hey, we're the only team to finish top 4 every year since 2010, at least we're consistent lol
Why are we all of a sudden giving all this ice time to 2 freshman who have hardly played all year ?
If you're talking about Saturday, it was a dead rubber game, I would have played all 4th liners and scratches and and rested everyone even more than we did
The BC power play is the most predictable in the league. Any good coach can defend what they do. Nothing ever changes. Pathetic. They better fix it quick and come up with some new looks. Its called coaching.
Respectfully, we have the top power play in the league haha

The BCWIH media people are now tweeting out that BC is the only team in Hockey East that has finished in the top 4 every year since 2010. So maybe they are reading your posts on this board @TonyTheTiger20 !

You really cant make this stuff up. Sorry but I find this run to be nothing short of embarrassing. Watching Northeastern and UConn just blow by us as a program is just not acceptable. Whoever is tweeting this stuff at the BC media department needs a little history lesson about BC Hockey IMO.

Sorry but #9 being the runner up for "Defender of the Year" might be the funniest thing that I have read in a long time. I understand that she is a talented player but sorry a good defender she is not ! Who votes for this stuff ? Is this a version of lets make sure everyone gets a trophy ?

I'm glad to see Campbell got some recognition. She was one of the few bright spots.

Well, that was fun as hell. We had a LOT of good offensive chances that didn't even result in a shot. The second period got nuts and it was a wicked fun game to be at live. Pellerin is an animal.

Looks like 6pm on Wednesday at BU... I might be able to persuade myself to go to that with it being an hour earlier than I expected. Not sure yet though as I don't exactly love the thought of getting home at 11-12 at night on a work night but we'll see...

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. It doesn't get much better than BC vs BU in the playoffs, I have been saying all year that BC is the best team so lets see what they can do. A few observations to watch for.

  • Campbell needs to be better. She has had a great season but has been noticeably off lately. No way BC wins if she's just average.
  • The BC defense needs to figure it out. Too many times they are out of position. I know 13 fell down and gave up first goal but in general too many easy entries for Maine. BU has some dynamic forwards so I hope the coaches actually try to look for specific matchups even as visiting team
  • I have no idea what they are doing with this end of the year experiment with 2 freshman on D but that needs to end ASAP, They are clearly not ready to play at this level.
  • Where is #12 on D ? Is she hurt. She has been solid all year.
  • 18 has been terrific. We need 28/21 to step up. 14 too

I'm surprised you didn't mention #19. She's a great player as well.

Welcome @Vintage Dublin. Its nice to have some new BCWIH fans on here besides me and TTT!

Yes. I like 19 a lot. Shoots the puck really well. I think she has a lot more to contribute to this team offensively. Not sure why she has been so tentative.

Been here forever. Washed up parent. I had to change my name because I couldn't sign in, then when I became Vintage Dublin, I could read but not reply. TTT helped me figure it out and here I am. So, Go BC.

Pellerin has been absolutely electric. She had about three opportunities to complete the hat trick against Maine. She pairs so well with Taber. Newhook has been quiet on the scoresheet... but I think she's going to be our most important player tonight.

Speaking of the game, hey I made a preview! It's been a while...

I actually specifically mention Newhook in the WHO TO WATCH FOR section. The game is going to be physical, and as probably the strongest player in the league, we need her to let loose in this one.

Lastly, I've decided that sleep is not important enough for me to miss the game, so I'll be driving up during lunch, finishing my work meetings up in Boston somewhere, then heading to Raising Cane's and giving the "Ever To Excel" statue next to Agganis a rub for good luck before heading over to Wally B.

This is one of the most thrilling games I've ever been to in my life. I just want to put that in writing just in case I end up jumping off the Zakim later.

What a flippin hockey game. About as painful a loss as I can remember. I was very proud of the way BC competed tonight. Campbell was incredible. That save she made in OT going post to post was one of the best saves in the history of hockey. :)

I'm going to sleep on this and come back with some comments tomorrow. The bottom line is we haven't won a Hockey East title since 2017. We have only played in 1 Hockey East title game since 2017. There is no way to sugar coat it- this is simply unacceptable at Boston College.

Well, you certainly got the Lindsay Bochna pick right.

Well as expected I didn't sleep a wink after that loss last night. Incredibly frustrated. Another hugely disappointing BCWIH season comes to an end.

As far as the game goes I thought BC played pretty well. They just always seem to find a way to lose the biggest games. For example, on the winning OT goal, BC is in great position. Its basically a 2 on 3. No way BU can score on a 2 on 3 correct ? Wrong. 17 gets beat wide (which happens) the BC forward on the backcheck (7) doesn't pick up and the other BC D (9) for some reason has her back to the play and doesn't see the BU player get all the way across the crease until its too late and then Bochna bangs it in. Should not have happened. Really frustrating.

As far as my thoughts for the BCWIH program moving forward, we are in desperate need of an overhaul which means a coaching change. I'm sorry this is not personal. This is Division 1 hockey. We have been too average for too long. I'm sorry BC social media people but coming in 3rd or 4th place in Hockey East for 8 straight years is not something to be bragging about. Its actually embarrassing.

We have watched both Northeastern and UConn leapfrog us as programs. We have watched BU basically rebuild its program with a new coach in a short period of time and now move past us. We have watched Providence become much better with a new coach. So why not us ? Are we ok with being the 4th or 5th best program in one of the weakest conferences in the country ? I'm not.

I believe Northeastern is playing in its 8th straight Hockey East Championship game. I believe BC has played in 1 over the last 8 years. This is simply not acceptable. Its actually infuriating when I think about it. BC should be the dominant women's hockey program in the east and playing in the NCAA tournament EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

I will be back with some more thoughts. I would love to get some feedback from some other BC fans. I know there are lots of you reading my posts but, other than @TonyTheTiger20 no one ever seems to comment. Do you disagree with me ? Are you happy with the continued mediocrity ? Should BCWIH just keep doing the same thing and hope for a different result ? I believe some people call that insanity. Please tell me I'm crazy

Long overdue at this point. Don't follow the program like I do the men's side but pay attention to the results every year. Crowley is basically a female Dick Umile at this point and we've all been saying it for years. The transfers out the past few seasons really were a key indicator of issues within the program. There's no way to spin it. And it's not acceptable.

It's especially interesting when you consider what Acacia Walker has done with the women's lacrosse program in a shorter time period. Hockey should be a much easier program for BC to excel at.

She's a legend as a player. It's time to move on.

Lol I sure did, didn't I haha... I wish I was wrong! But she's such a good, experienced player. Knew she'd have to be involved in the end.

I wrote a short post-mortem on the game/season as I had a few things to say:

I was so happy with how we played. It was an intensity I haven't seen out of us in a long time. The young players are great (and played particularly well last night) and it's going to be a great year next season.

I disagree with you guys on wanting to move past Coach Crowley. I still want her coaching. She's brought us back among the top programs before after a fall-off and I believe she can do it again. Plus with no more 5th years anymore complicating things, and with so much of our talent stacked in the bottom two classes, plus another great class coming in, I want to see where we go over the next couple seasons. Blowing it up isn't going to help. What WOULD help is more financial support from the university, but that's not going to change with a new coach.

We'll have to agree to disagree on where we go from here, but I'm excited to see what Coach Crowley does with this roster next year. There's no denying she had the team ready for the playoffs, and in particular for this game against BU, despite the early exit. Sometimes you play great but don't win.

Long overdue. It will be interesting to see if Blake James does anything. I cant imagine he could be very happy with the last 8 years. It just doesn't seem like anyone cares that much about BCWIH. Can you imagine if Greg Brown was this mediocre for 8 straight years? It would never happen. He would be fired after 3 years.

It's probably time (or past time) to try something. Do the people in charge of the department look at a program with 20 wins and think, "They're really close."

How many people in the country even realize that in the NCAA Women's D-I landscape this year, there is Wisconsin ... then drop a few rungs ... and there's that team from Ohio ... drop another couple rungs ... then there are a half dozen teams that you could stick in a batch and pull out in random order ... then there a few others ... and now you can start talking about HEA teams. When did HEA get as devoid of star power as it is now? The league has one person averaging more than a point/game, and that, just barely. If you took the best team from HEA, would they win the season schedule in Atlantic Hockey? If the league as a whole doesn't improve, some team will rise up and dominate HEA, enter the NCAA as the top seed, and then lose to the first good team they face. It happened to UNH, BC, Northeastern. It's hard to come out of a weak league and win it all.

To talk about BC being the dominant team in the East, like that name alone will make it happen, is pretty disrespectful to the "C" teams from ECAC, who have been contending teams for quite a long time.

What is the definition of a great year considering how depleted of star power HockeyLeast is...

I like no coaching change for bc for the reason that it makes it fun to come to this thread to see the meltdowns and disagreements.

On the serious side however, how do you not see that a change is needed?

I like no coaching change for BC because I think Kinger is where she belongs, I think she can bring this team forward, I don't care if it's last 8 years or last 20 years, she's a good coach. I have an opinion that certain people have a personal vendetta against Kinger and hide behind a keyboard to try to harm her. People can say whatever they want if they think know one knows who they are. Good luck to BC seniors.

I'm sorry @Vintage Dublin but you need to grow up. Personal vendetta ? Trying to harm her? Sorry but you sound like an idiot. I'm sure Kinger is a great person. But she's a terrible hockey coach.

I'm sorry but we have every right to be frustrated with BCWIH for the continued mediocrity over the last 8 seasons ! Do I need to list the reasons ? The record, the inability to win big games, the long list of top players that have left the program, the lack of development with their recruits, the inability to hire top assistant coaches, the watching of programs like Northeastern and UConn blow by us!

Do you want me to keep going ?? I got a long list here

I thought this was a fan forum where fans could come on here and talk about their favorite teams. These are not personal attacks. This is D1 hockey. You seem to think " KInger is " where she belongs" Fine. Are you happy with the last 8 years ? I'm not. Do you like the direction they are headed ? I'm not. Make your case and I'm happy to respond but please spare me with the personal attack nonsense.
