BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

Much different feel to last year. I'm not saying they'll win, but they are in a much better position to do so than they were last year.

Better enjoy this month because the ride is going to end very abruptly.

I think you're being a bit "half empty".
you're only thinking of the seniors on BC leaving...though it's the best class ever graduating, (and going to hurt) all of the other teams are graduating their best players also. it's how good the players left are and I thing BC will be fine.
other teams will have more possession time but they'll be fine.

don't retire that little horn just yet.

WI isn't losing much, their top 6 forwards return, ARD returns, and they return 4 D. The scoring prowness of the Fr. F are on paper better than the scoring prowess of the Sr F departing.

Cheers to this 😎

ya, i'm not saying they'll be undefeated again. just to the dance. once there you can steal one.

WI and MN are going to be crazy good the next few years. MN will have players not dressing that could be 1st liners on most other teams.

hopefully BC will talk the coaches into playing a regular season series.

. . . MN will have players not dressing that could be 1st liners on most other teams.

That may be a stretch. I think most of the kids not dressing would be dressing just about anywhere else and a couple would be real contributors but I don't see them as 1st liners even at Mankato.

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

If on March 20 BC is playing for a National Championship and an undefeated/untied season, even in Boston, that has got to be worth some good press in a hockey town like that doesn't it?

Talking of that: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/college/2016/02/bc_star_alex_carpenter_aiming_for_perfect_finish

Great article, doesn't say much that posters on this board don't already know but some nice quotes. Hopefully we'll see some media presence coming up to the FF.

Awww... I would have paid good money to see Tony's little horn get run over by one (if not both) of the Busch brothers while he was at Daytona. :p ;)

he went to Daytona? UGH. It's no wonder he loves hockey. that (I can't even say sport) racing thing is awful. they even have it on the radio. the freakin radio!!!.
Oh Grant, you have so much living to do.

I've watched NASCAR so much less than I used to, I will only watch a handful of races a year now, especially now that my driver is retiring (and didn't even race this weekend because he broke his back last month). But nonetheless, Daytona was AMAZING omg

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

So Sunday we go to our local bar for lunch and all 16 screens have car racing on and I ask my wife who in her younger days was a "corner worker" (whatever that is) for the Sports Car Club of America, "Isn't it a little early for the Indy 500?" and she says "that's in May, this is the Daytona 500." So Obb's kid Jimmy (the current owner) comes by and I ask him if he would change the channel to BTN so we can watch the Gopher women's basketball game with MSU. He asks the two women at the table next to us if it's alright and they respond "Oh, please do." 52 points for Banham and the Gophers still lose. Unbelievable!

And did Petty win at Daytona again?

Eagles having an off game. Up 3-2 on Maine midway through the second

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

Goals / assists / points since 1/2:

Code:
	        	G	A	P
#8	Dana Trivigno	8	9	17
#22	Haley Skarupa	8	9	17
#19	Makenna Newkirk	6	11	17
#5	Alex Carpenter	6	10	16
#4	Megan Keller	3	12	15
#12	Kenzie Kent	5	5	10
#23	Andie Anastos	4	5	9
#18	Toni Ann Miano	4	5	9
#21	Lexi Bender	2	7	9

Carp 4th in points this month? Crazy but true. You have to take it back to 1/15 for her to be the leader in scoring since that date. And the Skarupa-Carp-Kent line and Trivigno-Anastos-Newkirk line are equal in points this month. This is a serious problem for teams facing them.

The Globe pays attention to the perfect season. Good to see the coverage, though the only really new information is that they like to have team viewings of Grey's Anatomy.

SIGH "Only one team in women’s hockey history has completed a perfect season. Minnesota went 41-0-0 in 2013. "

WRONG. If the writer wants to say this, fine, but it needs clarification (ie in NCAA history.) UNH had several perfect seasons, although it seems they are unmemorable outside of NH.

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

Carp's goal to go ahead from 2-2 was a thing of absolute beauty. She picked the puck up on the side boards with a ton of space, skated to the dot, and faked a wrist shot that completely fooled Chuli. Then, when Chuli was down, casually rifled it over her shoulder. It's easy to admire her hustle but she has crazy smarts too.

Re: BC Women's Hockey, 2015-2016: Embrace The Cupcake Diet

Carpenter's goal was a nice shot but you're giving her a bit more credit for faking out Chuli because the play as you described it did not occur. Carp took a shot, it hit the D in the leg, and the puck went right back to Carp. She then took a quick 2nd shot and that one got by Chuli. Check out the video at the 1:10 mark for the goal in question.
