Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR
I'm sure BC fans will be excited with their recruits and they should be as fans of the team. But come on now..."stands out as the best of the incoming class (defenseman)? And including+/- stats from a tournament to bolster that statement?
I don't think it is quite as easy as "a couple of practices" to transition from 16U to D1 college hockey. Katie does have the 2013-14 U18 team experience, the USA festival this month, and surely another year as the U18 goaltender - that will definitely help get her prepared. Being close to home will also make it a much easier adjusting to college and having a support network close. Her family seems great, I had the pleasure of having a few drinks poolside last year with mom and some other team parents; they are very proud and supportive. Being a fellow goalie parent I give them credit for making the leap, and wish Katie the best of luck.
In response to the "chuckle" over Keller being so highly touted:
While I would a little more reserved before naming her the best ever, after watching her play over the last five years and with my own daughter for 81 games last year - she is the best female defenseman I have ever watched in the 19U game. I have had the oppurtunity to watch many of the others mentioned. They are all great defense, but Megan stands out as the best of the incoming class. She led the World Championships in Budapest in +/-, is tall with an exceptional reach, smart, and strong. BC fans should be very excited to have her.
Hopefully over the next four years our daughters will have a chance to play each other, and I can meet a few of the fellow forum posters.
