BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Carpenter can pick out corners as well, Skarupa kind of just fires it anywhere.Alex would have the higher shooting percentage.

Carpenter also has the highest Hockey "IQ" of any player I've ever seen. As an 11 yr old she was dominant at U14 and boys PW AA...not because she was bigger or stronger but because she was smarter.

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Class year isn't a big deal. The problem with BC -- as I'm sure all of us would readily tell you -- is that we don't know what we're going to get. We have three untested goalies with good pedigrees. I think what Sheagle may be expressing, which is how I feel as well, is that chances are all three won't be busts and at least one is bound to pan out to be a quality goaltender given their backgrounds.

Makes a lot of sense how you put it. I would definitely agree.

This is true, Skarupa has a surprisingly low shot % at about .127; of players with 10 goals or more last season, Trivigno, Anastos, and Leary all have shot %s of around .15 and Capizzano comes in around .14. I often wonder if one issue is that she's so much faster even than the rest of the team that when she gets to the net there's no-one to pass it to. It'll be interesting to see how those figures change with Carpenter back.

(Obligatory nod of the head to the well-known fact that shot totals at Conte are not very reliable).

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

You can get it from the drop down menu on the schedule page.
Nicely found although it appears we are going to have a couple split-squad games on 12/5:

Code:
12/05/14	at Dartmouth	Hanover, N.H.	5:00 p.m. ET
at Maine Orono, Maine	5:00 p.m. ET

Also a few of those dates don't match what USCHO or HockeyEastOnline has so it appears to still be a work in progress. Women's basketball was just announced about 15 minutes ago so hopefully soon.

Half a BC roster is still enough to beat Dartmouth or Maine.

Joking aside...Looking at the schedule and not seeing any western opponents, it's a shame there isn't a regular season series against a WHCA team. In particular, Minnesota.

I've gone over this with Coach, this year has the same OOC slate as last year, just home/away is swapped. So I'm guessing this is the 2nd year of a bunch of 2 year scheduling deals.

They've said they are working on/expecting to have something from out west for 2015-2016.

And anyway, my guess is that since Minnesota doesn't ever play anyone decent from the east it won't be them.

Grant, you used to be SO much better at disguising your trolls! ;) But, just to play along, the Gophers have to somehow find a way to get by two Eastern powers in Princeton and St. Lawrence, who they play in weekend series on the road and at home respectively. But the really big test will come right away in their first series of the season when they host three time defending Hockey East champion, Boston University! :p

True...But then again it's not like they need the competition. MES.

I said "anyone decent" yeesh

And sorry, I meant to have specified, they never play anyone decent on the road. BC's gone out there before.

The problem is that teams from Hockey East are so inconsistent. When BC came to Minnesota for a regular season series, they were barely on the + side of .500, so it would be a stretch to call them decent. We tried to play a home-and-home with the closest thing Hockey East has had to a dynasty at Durham, but I'm sure you're not going to concede that was a decent team. Just decent enough to beat BC. You can schedule a BC on the road, they get up to play you like it is the Stanley Cup, because that's likely the best team they have ever had in their barn, and then they spend the rest of the season snoozing away games to UNH, Syracuse, and Quinnipiac. Better to play a team like SLU that has been a better than average team for a long time, like back in the days when the Eagles were a glorified club team. :D

(No disrespect intended to any BC fan other than Grant.)

So very predictable, so very boring.
