BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Champs

i've never seen a college hockey game in such a packed venue, virtually every seat was filled and the entire concourse had people standing watching the game. The crowd of 7700, was 1000 over listed capacity of Tsongas. Good test for us is right JD. FiveHole12, the way the third went i was ok with getting out of Dodge with a point . Both streaks are intact at least for another week

Neither have I the concourses were jammed

Wonder at what time they would've stopped selling SRO seats

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Official capacity for Tsongas is actually 6079 now, so it was a little more than 25% over capacity.

hmm, ok, not sure where you got that. The most up to date thing i found was 6496 for hockey and basketball. 7800 for concerts. 6000 seems a bit small but whatever, I love the place

I got it from a couple of people within the athletic department. With the renovations a few years ago the capacity has changed a couple of times. Before this season started I was told that the "official" number is now 6079.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

i'm assuming scorers always get the nod over goalies but i don't see why demko couldn't win rookie of the year. depends on the voter i guess. wonder if voters take age into consideration.

also i know how some of you feel about york being snubbed for coty over the years but does he have a chance this year since the conference record is so absurd?

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Looked at the numbers to confirm a suspicion. For a team with so much talent, speed, & skill they get very few powerplays. They have the fewest powerplay opportunities in HE.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

also most PIMs per game, no? yet hockey east fans still think the refs favor bc

I think Demko just doesn't have enough starts. If he had earned the starting job earlier in the season, it'd be a no brainer. Gillies, Milan, Vetri, Howard and DiPietro have all won it since 2000. It'll be very hard for the league not to give the COTY to York this year but if it had to be anyone else, I'd give Madigan an honorable mention.

Actually the award I really want to see won is the best defensive forward by Patrick Brown. Kid has been a warrior this year, and has earned it.

Well, Demko is certainly gonna be the goalie on the All-Rookie team. If he plays this way vs. Notre Dame next week, I think he's put himself in a very good position to win Rookie of the Year. Who else would be a viable candidate? Probably just Mario Puskarich of Vermont and Mike Szmatula of Northeastern. I would think it has to be one of those three.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

and considering the guys you mentioned, i wonder if voters take age into consideration

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Looking at the awards in general, I would say York and Madigan are the choices. Given BC's record in conference, I do think York is deserving this time around.

Demko on all rookie team and in contention for rookie of the year.

Gaudreau repeat POTY with Hayes joining him as first team all star. Arnold 2nd team all-star and in contention for best defensive forward.

Fitzgerald, McCoshen and Santini all in contention for all rookie team.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Another interesting stat...Sit is the best faceoff man in the league and by a very wide margin.

Hayes in top 10 in shots on goal. See, Kevin, good things happen when you shoot the puck ;)

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

and finally (since i know some on here follow the women's team)...BC is a combined 7-0 against BU this season.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

i would agree with that, just tried thinking like a potential voter by looking at the conference stats...

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Cangelosi is going to pot 25-30 one year here.

Wouldn't be shocked if madigan gets COY.

Anyway, they weren't going to win every game the rest of the way (not because of ZOMG they must lose so they don't feel pressure!) but a very solid weekend.

Lowell still plays that *yawn* hockey but Saturday was a fun environment.

1 game over 20 days, Christmas break 2.0

Maybe someone more creative than I can start another new witty thread.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

i actually don't mind the upcoming time off. gives them a chance to heal up. if it means they are rusty for the QFs so be it as the tourney after that is obviously more important.
