Everything I've seen looks like crap. I was interested in seeing the different take, until I saw footage. Now? F* this movie. Looks so pukeworthy it's sad.

Ah so you got the memo then...the prehate movement grows! #ScoobyisFlaggy

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Just saw two mini trailers with Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones highlighted. Loved them both. My bet is the trailers were bad on purpose. I did see one bad review that looked like it was written purposely by someone who doesn't like the (4) comedians in the film. I personally think all 4 of them are awesome and am looking very forward to them in the same film playing off of each other.

Went and saw Mike and Dave need Wedding Dates last night. Looked hilarious in the trailers. It had maybe 5 or 6 funny spots. Maybe.

The pre hate was all planned? So everyone got together and decided to hate the movie for no reason? Please...

There is no great conspiracy, people dont think it looks good because they dont think it looks good. If you do great but dont pretend everyone else is in a smoke filled room screwing over the film that is just bush league. Every time I have seen the trailer before a movie it was met with groans.

Not a vast conspiracy. Just a few executives at Sony planning to self-sabotage the film, crater expectations and then turn out something pretty good. Not all that unbelievable, except

1) Sony desperately needs a hit. They arguably have not had a hit since the Jump Street movies but have had a series of box office disasters.
2) There have been major shakeups at Sony, most notably Amy Pascal who championed Ghostbusters in its current format (freezing out Reitman, going with Feig & all female cast etc) has been "fired" and other executives have either been let go or reassigned. It is hard to imagine any of the new executives following a plan devised by their predecessors - or executing this plan as one of their first acts in power.
3) Even if they wanted to do this, Sony lacks the competence to pull it off this well.

It is plausible, especially since the marketing campaign has been SO horrible. However, I don't think it's likely. I think it is more likely Sony is incompetent and has a steaming pile of dog poo on its hands. At this point all the new executives can do is hope they don't get stained too badly by this and that Spider-Man: Homecoming is a major success.

Oh I know studios pull crap like that all the time, but they need Ghostbusters to be a hit they cant just write it off. They dont have much in the pipeline for franchises (outside of splitting Spiderman with Marvel/Disney) so they cant really afford to sabotage this. I mean Fox (and the director) tanking Craptastic 4 is one thing...this is on a whole different level. I mean I know Sony probably thinks more than 12 people care about Underworld Movies or the Men in Black sequel/crossover but Ghostbusters is supposed to be their goldmine. It would make no sense, even for SONY!

Even if they are tanking expectations in hopes of getting a "positive reaction" the movie is going to need big opening numbers for it to be worth it. If it opens about $40-50 million that will look nice (though it will probably finish 3rd which is horrid) but even with legs it is going to lose 50-60% each week. With an estimated budget of $154 million that is not going to get it done.

Personally I wont read any of the critics before I see it anyways just like I do every movie. I will go in with low expectations and hope to be entertained.

Take it for what it's worth but advanced audience reviews average B+ and RT has a 76% for the Ghostbusters movie.

Yea, reviews I'm seeing for Ghostbusters mostly seem positive. Consensus that I'm seeing is that it's a fun popcorn flick with decently funny laughs throughout. I've also seen several reviewers mention that the 3D work is very well done and totally adds to the experience.

I would've thought that dealing with the crying, the inability to talk through any given issue, all of the mountains of self-doubt until I know that they turn out okay, and the general dealing with miniature versions of awful adults was the worst part about being a parent.

Turns out that's not the case.

No way. You mean that idiot Scooby could be right?

Or it could be that the preview audiences were stocked with people prone to wanting to see it.

You realize if anyone who argued with you doesnt like the film they were right too right? And if critics pan it and it underperforms EVERYONE was right but that idiot Scooby correct? I mean you do understand the difference between your opinion and actual measurables right?

Hey I have said it a dozen times if I have said it once, I dont care what the critics say I just want to enjoy the movie. But if I dont it isnt cause I am biased in any way (I should be biased FOR it) it is because I didnt enjoy it.

The difference between the Critic and Audience score on RT is useful information. Let's assume Critic Good + Audience Good = good and Critic Bad + Audience Bad = bad. Those are uninteresting cases. But Critic Good + Audience Bad = art movie that I probably will really like, while Critic Bad + Audience Good = LCD schlock keeping Tyler Perry and Adam Sandler in coke.

So, you expect me to be objective about the subjectivity of the reviews and precognitions posted in this thread? The same thread that spawned Brenthoven's opinion on almost every movie made including the disparagement of at least two of my top 10 movies of all time?

No sir. You're not going to get that from me in here.

No I am saying just because you like a movie doesnt make a movie good to the rest of us. Your opinion (or his, or mine) is no more valuable than anyone else's. You proclaiming "I was right" is not only arrogant, it is actually factually not correct.

Hey I am glad the rating is what it is, I hope I like it. If I dont though my opinion isnt wrong. The critics opinion doesnt matter anymore now than it did when it looked like it would get panned and neither does yours. Dont like it, too flipping bad get over yourself.
