All those candidates suck. Its all about the economy at this point. Any other distractions means Obama wins

I went to his website and while it talks about his history, very impressive, but doesn't really say much about his vision for the country. Like me he thinks the present path is leading to ruin but how will he change it?

Give him time. Gotta get the consultants together. Don't want to box yourself in too soon. As I've indicated, I'm hardly without bias here since I know the guy a little. But right now it looks like all we've got are retreads, damaged goods and nobodys to run against The One. Herman's a nobody, for sure. And has no experience as an elected official. That's probably the thing that makes it nearly impossible for him. "Experience" (narrowly defined) will suddenly become the most important consideration (which it wasn't two years ago) for the MSM. Trust me, if people actually take a moment to consider him, he could do well, he's very persuasive, in a Reaganesque sort of way. Maybe it's time for the GOP to think outside the box instead of nominating the next guy in line.

Plus I'll forever look up to him for schooling Bill Clinton on national TV: "Just raise your prices." Idiot.

This proves my point that the bar has really been lowered. If the GOP trots out Palin after McCain it will rival Gore and Kerry for successive pathetic candidates. (And for those that can't think outside the box, that comment is not a ringing endorsement for Obama).

This excerpt, from the 1/13/11 edition of the "Greenwich Post", sums up the effect of current political climate on the Arizona tragedy very well, IMO.

"While it is unfair to lay this directly at the feet of the Sarah Palins and Glenn Becks and those who see the need to use violent imagery and rhetoric to make their political points, it would also be shortsighted to ignore the fact that the toxic climate coming from the political right in this country is hurting our democracy.

It's no longer enough to disagree with someone politically. Now we must "kill" bills. Political opponents are identified through gunsights. People come armed to town meetings.

The right wing talk show hosts and political leaders in this country have turned reasonable opposition to Barack Obama's and Nancy Pelosi's ideas into a battle for American freedom, equating tax increases for the wealthiest Americans and health care for the uninsured with the loss of our liberty. People are buying this nonsense and it's turning the Becks, Palins and Limbaughs into wealthy people making a fortune off our fear and ignorance.

There is much we can do in the wake of this tragedy. We can finally get serious about real gun control. The alleged killer - despite having a mental illness that was clear to Army recruiters who rejected him from service - was legally able to buy a gun and a 30-round clip of ammunition that allowed him to continue killing without reloading. "
