Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

My only problem with Palin is that she can't win. Yes, yes, I know "But Reagan won and no one gave him a chance!". However, Reagan was also elected twice in California. Palin chose not to even try for reelection in Alaska.

everyone also knew Reagan was the real deal. after his speech at the convention in 1976 the delegates realized they had nominated the wrong guy (Gerald Ford)
I like Sarah Palin. I respect her career and life decisions - marriage, children, running a business, politics and putting her money where her mouth was in regards to have a Downs baby. its tough to "have it all" in today's world. that said - I'm not supporting her for the presidential nomination.
I am utterly at a loss to explain the foaming at the mouth attitude of the left and the press toward her. perhaps she threatens their world view - that women can be strong and witty and dish it out and work and raise kids and be pretty and get elected. not exactly your Bella Abzug type feminist. its very strange. I've never seen a politician so vilified in my lifetime.

I'd say people knew who Reagan was after the Goldwater speech in '64, but that's just a quibble--your point is sound. The one person who got comparable treatment was Dan Quayle. And it started almost immediately. Remember all the phony Quayle "quotes?" "I'm happy to be in Latin America, where everybody speaks Latin," was one of the best.

It's been so long ago, but try to remember--here was a young, handsome, Midwestern senator with a good record, who'd been "plucked from obscurity" to quote the phrase, to become Vice President. Hey, that's one short step from you know what. Better move in next door to him to get the dirt, better inflate any slip of the tongue into "evidence" he's too dumb to be president, like asserting there are 57 states, sorry, that's somebody else. You get the picture. Oh, and his wife's a pushy b*tch too, let's not forget that, so make HER an issue. And he had the nerve to suggest that "Murphy Brown" wasn't exactly the right role model for unmarried mothers, given that most of them aren't network TV personalities, who make piles of money and can afford nannies and such.

Now all she has to do is bend over, back up to a mirror, take off the bottom, get the rifle in the shot and oh yeah murder six people.

What the hell?

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

That is, if she wants to be just like Loughner, who evidently liked sticking his gun up his crack.

Did I miss something here...? When did this come out?

Apparantly true media reports that he posed for pictures in a red thong, and nothing else. At least one of the pics showed him backed up to a mirror with the Glock, uh, in the shot. A few posts back I mentioned that that struck me as a Freudian cornucopia. Our resident wit, Kepler, then posted the picture of Sarah in her two piece holding a rifle. Then I responded with the post that gobsmacked you.
Whew. Here:

I think he's previewing her next TV show.

(But, hey, give her some privacy. She doesn't like attention...)

Leaving Loughner's anal fixation out of the commentary? Good plan.

Who's publishing Jayson Blair these days?

Um. I don't know what you're talking about, and I hope not to ever know. Though it does sound like Loughner could have a future as either a televangelist or a conservative legislator.

How conveeeenient. Read back a few posts it's all laid out (with original reporting by ta-dah the NYT). I've already explained it a couple of times and it's beginning to corrupt my little mind. As I say, just a few posts back. It's all there, in brown and white.

Billy James Hargis, call for you on 4.

P. J. O'Rourke feeds the "Gray Lady" into a woodchipper, face first.
I tell ya, words like "quickly" and "also" **** me right the **** off too!

Crazy people do not do crazy things without stimuli. Both left and right are guilty of cultivating the cold war era us vs. them mentality which has created a hostile political environment. But it's not hostile because people are putting "targets" on districts (even though that is in poor taste, it's a gun metaphor and *** do you do with a gun but shoot to kill things?) it's the tone that's being set by all the back and forth bickering.

For example, just because it's such an obvious one, the great big string of false dichotomy posts that Old Pio has in this thread that amount to just "LOOK HOW ****ING STUPID THESE *******ES ARE COMPARED TO US!"

Any thing you say, sweetie. It's amazing how broad that education is at taxidermy school. I'm impressed.

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Tell us what the stimuli was?

Reports seemed to suggest it was that 2007 incident where she responded to an inane question from him in Spanish.

(Which was clearly a devious plot by Sarah Palin).
