A 50-year-old truck driver with a history of spewing antisemitic hatred has been found guilty on all counts in the 2018 shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue that killed 11 worshipers and left seven people wounded. The verdict was expected, as Robert Bowers' attorneys admitted during trial that he was responsible for the massacre.

Jurors returned just before noon on Friday, CBS Pittsburgh reported, after a total of more than five hours of deliberation Thursday and Friday. He was charged with 63 criminal counts, including hate crimes resulting in death, related to the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history.

Next will come the penalty phase of the trial, where the jury will decide if he should receive the death penalty or serve life in prison. CBS Pittsburgh reports that the judge called for a one-week break before the penalty phase begins.

Shooting at a music fest at the gorge amphitheater in Washington on Saturday night. My best friend was there along with her husband and two oldest kids. They are safe thankfully. 2 dead and sounds like 3 injured. Shooter was apprehended.

Talking with my friends now and they were in the venue when it happened. It was in an overflow campground (not the one they were staying at so they were quite a ways off. But still scary)

Funny (as in stupid) related story- back about 15 years ago, they allowed guns in National Parks, and my gun friends rejoiced. I asked why you need a gun when camping in a national park- the reply was that they were worried about getting raped in their tents. Yea, that was the answer.

Apparently the side benefit is to shoot someone when you are mad at them, too. Which somehow is the correct reply for Christians.

Grand Rapids Public Schools banned backpacks earlier this year after guns were found. Now they're piloting metal detectors.

But not actually dealing with the guns.

The NRA has announced there will be a national discussion about guns airing on all major broadcast networks and featuring prominent politicians, safety experts, child psychologists, parents, students, teachers, medical personnel and others. It is scheduled for July 34th at 27 o'clock.
The NRA is going to teach better fire control because they’re certain that the killed-to-wounded ratio is horrendous.
