Americans-Canadians

Re: Americans-Canadians

Teenage Moose?

What's wrong with the teenagers of today? I swear to God it's that rap music they are listening to.

In a further lapse in judgement, the article says they had been seen drinking before they then decided to wander into the big city.

And just like cops too...shoot first, ask questions later.

Re: Americans-Canadians

Ya, and they're always hanging out in the wrong neighbourhoods. What do you have to do these days to maintain your privacy? I know what they do in most States........;)

I'd rather encounter a Moose in the local park than on the Freeway. The latter is more likely to be catastrophic.

There have been rampant Forest fires north of here with a dry and warm spring. The other day the city was schrouded in a smell of smoke. The wildlife is obviously migrating away from the fires, hence they invade urban sprawl.

A better video of yesterday's action:

It couldn't be raining much harder than it is right now around here. Hopefully you're getting some of it up there.

Re: Americans-Canadians

Tremendous hockey game last night. Now we have a series, Friday can't come soon enough. American fans at both rinks are truly making a difference in the outcome. And the Canadian contingent of players are putting on quite a show. Nice combination.:)

Re: Americans-Canadians

Given the fact that the players playing are mostly Canadian and the Television audience that is watching is mainly Canadian they should at the very least sing both National Anthems before each game.

Re: Americans-Canadians

One report out of Vancouver said they were drinking Canadian, smoking Big Cigars and allegedly at one point one of them even tried to drive away on a Zamboni....Shameful!

What's wrong with drinking Canadian, smoking Big Cigars, and trying to drive away on a Zamboni? :D

Definitely a great combination ... great hockey fans in Chicago and Philadelphia who haven't seen a Stanley Cup hoisted in quite some time, and they get to watch some of the best hockey players in the world. Can't wait until tomorrow night. :)

Re: Americans-Canadians

Absolutely nothing.....

Agree ... leave it to the doggone media here (in the US) to take a great story of a private celebration that wasn't hurting anyone and put a negative spin on it. The whole media situation here is messed up. It's all about turning everything into a negative and trying to tick people off. Sorry to get off on a tangent about that, but some of the media reaction to that was a joke. Those young ladies earned that celebration. LOL, I knew you were being sarcastic when you put the word 'Shameful' at the end of your post. Both of us are basically poking fun at an overzealous media that must have had too much free time on their hands. I actually liked the pictures of the celebration, but could have done without the negative stories that accompanied the pictures.

Tell ya what, if the finals are ever in Canuckistan.. y'all can start the tradition of playing both. :p

Re: Americans-Canadians

We already do! What's your excuse?

You kind of missed my 'point', but we can talk about this too.

Sooo... do you know for a fact that in the last ALL Canadian team final that both anthems were played? I wasn't there, but I'm guessing that the US anthem would be a bit extraneous in that situation.

Re: Americans-Canadians

The following is an excerpt from CTV News...

A Toronto hockey fan is hoping to bring some Canadian spirit to the Stanley Cup final.

Sandro Liburdi has started up a petition with hopes of convincing the National Hockey League to play both the Canadian and American national anthem at the games.

The finals will be a best-of-seven games showdown between two U.S. teams – the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers. The series starts Saturday at 9 p.m.

"Although there are two U.S. teams in the final, there are 38 Canadian players and only 24 U.S. and international-born players combined," he said in a telephone interview with ctvtoronto.ca. He also pointed out that the captains of both teams are Canadian.

"Those Canadian players deserve to hear their anthem."

An online petition (www.playouranthem.ca) was launched Thursday afternoon and within a few hours, more than 2,500 people signed their support.

Liburdi says he is trying to get hockey commentator Don Cherry and other sports notables on board.

Honouring Canada in an American sporting competition is nothing new. In fact, the National Basketball Association flies a Canadian flag at every game, regardless of which team is actually playing.

There is only one Canadian team – the Toronto Raptors – in the NBA while the NHL has teams in six Canadian cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

Furthermore, unlike hockey, Canadians are overwhelmingly underrepresented at the NBA.

"This is a North American league made up of mostly Canadian players and the respect should be paid to both countries," Liburdi said.

Is there an NHL arena that doesn't have a Canadian flag hanging?

What's extraneous is you referring to Canada as Canuckistan. But at least you put a cap on it.:)
