Americans-Canadians

Re: Americans-Canadians

That's CRAZY! We're in the middle of a week long mid-summer type heat wave. Yesterday was apparently at 45 year record high temps of 30-something....I read something about this weather pattern having blown in from Arizona though so thankfully not the usual humidity we typically get with it courtesy of the Ohio valley. Love ya Arizona! :)

It's been unseasonably warm here in Columbus this week, too. Temps have been in the mid to upper 80's (fahrenheit). I usually don't turn on my AC until June, but enough was enough. I turned it on last week.

Re: Americans-Canadians

Yoo Hoo for Calgary for hosting the Habs outdoors on February 20, 2011 in a Winter Classic spectacle in the NHL (Pittsburgh also hosts a game on Jan 1, 2011 against the Washington Capitals). Can we say 5-4 Fighting in the crowd??

Did anyone think about the fact there could easily be a Chinook in February??

Re: Americans-Canadians

All these outdoor games...It's getting a little old don't ya think?

Totally agree. When the novelty wears off, which may already have started to occur, these outdoor games in big stadiums will be become increasingly rare. Personally, I'd rather not have to use binoculars to have a good view of the action on the (bad/snowy?) ice...or wear a snowmobile or rainsuit to be comfortable....

Disagree....It's fun.... Chill out! :)

Re: Americans-Canadians

Right the NHL is soooooo popular now, why do anything to increase fan interest like the outdoor game? Yes, the whole concept is so 5 minutes ago...nobody cares. Typical Canadian.

P.S. Do you have any clue how wildly popular the game at Fenway was this year? And all the tie-ins with Prep/HS/ College and Women's College games? Clueless as usual.

Hey NJCBi-PolarBear......What's all this typical Canadian and clueless stuff all about? :D

Re: Americans-Canadians

Is that where the Buckeyes play? Well as long as it's good and cold in January, sure, that would make for a good setting. Holds lots of people. Start lobbying. :)

106,000 show up for home football games in the fall. As for January, Mrs 86 and I attended a National Championship celebration in 2003 (us and 52,000 friends). I think the high that day was 15 degrees. I owed the wife big-time after she sat through that with me! I'm not sure how many people would show up for an outdoor Jackets game right now. We should probably wait until they actually make the playoffs a few more times before we lobby the NHL for an outdoor game here. I would definitely be there if it ever materialized.

Tragic Moose story from Yesterday. Some great pics and video....but....got a lot of city folks up in arms......

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/technology/Police+kill+loose+moose+Orleans/3096873/story.html

Too bad....based on the article it does seem that the police did not handle the incident particularly well. It doesn't explain why the tranquillizers didn't work, so you would have to assume the ones they used were not up to the task, or maybe they didn't place them in the right spots? I'm certainly no expert but it sure seems like the cops who were involved weren't experts either!

Teenage Moose?

What's wrong with the teenagers of today? I swear to God it's that rap music they are listening to.

Ya, and they're always hanging out in the wrong neighbourhoods. What do you have to do these days to maintain your privacy? I know what they do in most States........;)
