Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Another tidbit from INCH. Article on top ten names for 2010.

"Dillon Simpson - An uncommitted 16-year-old, Simpson is heralded as the best player available for college recruiters—he could make a team very happy in 2010. He’s a rookie for the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL and reportedly has Denver, Michigan State and North Dakota after him—and likely many others. Dillon has good bloodlines—his father, Craig, is formerly of Michigan State, a longtime NHLer and now in the Hockey Night in Canada booth—and perhaps most importantly is firmly committed to the college route."

Sounds promising. I'm guessing we have a good shot with him, with all of the recruiting momentum that Gwoz, Miller and LaLonde have created. Seriously, how could anyone NOT choose Denver over North Dakota???

If you want all your shenanigans covered up, DU is where you need to go. No one gives a dam about the team so you could probably murder a few people before you'd even make the papers.

His aunt, Christine, is an NHL reporter on Versus. Here is a picture of her interviewing Christie Brinkley at an Islanders' game.

I don't have any knowledge of this particular recruit, but it seems like he would be a 2011 recruit if he's just 16. Worth keeping an eye on.

With the Dad coming from Michigan State maybe Gwoz has some connections when he was an assistant there.

It all depends on what you want in a college hockey experience.

Both teams have good coaching, winning tradition and TV exposure.

UND has the edge in facilities and game night atmosphere.

DU has the edge in academics and location.

I think it is. He's wearing the 60th Anniversary patch and it is #9.

I don't know Viz... The Rock has such a distinctive face, I think this is #19 Kyle Ostrow. And how about that reporter? She looks like , well, kinda like Christie Brinkly!!!

This isn't the Sound of Music, I doubt most hockey players care to prance through fields with mountains in the background.

Hey du78. Wanna bet a Diet Coke on the Avs vs. Fish sticks tonight?

Most hockey players don't. Great hockey players do. :p

14ers, thst sure is a funny looking tree in North Dakota.

It's the NEW state tree of North Dakota decreed in legislation passed two or three years ago I think.

True. Mountains don't matter much. But many players like cities with more amenities and better weather than Grand Forks.

Seriously, how does DU even lose hockey games??? ;) :D

I didn't realize that hockey players based their collegiate commitments on scenery in the state. IMO most would base it on how the college will prepare them for moving on to the next level of hockey...an area that UND is superior to almost every other college. :)

Ah, most of the kids that DU and UND recruit come from small Canadian towns. They feel more at home in the small GF setting with the wind chills in the negative. ;) :D
