Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Perhaps the power of Lynah Rink will lead to another victory tonight. Another Denver loss only helps the ECAC down the road.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Seniors Viva, Jacobson, Danny and freshman Tanner Jaillet!
Thank you boyz!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

It is green menace week :D
We shouldn't belittle those who have never been taught the basics of dental hygiene. Why even as a Brownie or Camp Fire girl, we learned that if you were in the middle of nowhere, you could make a tooth brush out of a twig from a tree. North Dakota certainly qualifies as the middle of nowhere. Aha, I see the problem--no trees--no Twigs--no tooth brushes--eventually no teeth.
 :D ;)

Was considering starting a game thread--The Nameless of the North visit Magness' Mascot-less
 (rim shot) :D

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

But seriously, was anyone else surprised that Jacobson scored his 2nd goal? I didn't think he had scored any before.
But wrong--scored 5 as a sophomore  (None as a freshman or junior) Leading scorer on the Mash Line.

Wonder why they don't play that golden oldie, The Monster Mash, when they come on the ice?

"He did the mash He did the Monster Mash
The Monster Mash It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash It caught on in a flash
He did the mash He did the Monster Mash"

Or perhaps a jazzed up version of the theme from MASH?

I've heard several unconfirmed reports alleging that when a North Dakota player takes a penalty this week against Denver, upon entering the penalty box, said player will undergo 'enhanced interrogation techniques' to determine why he took the penalty.

Are volunteers being recruited to assist with the "techniques"?
I bet there are a few hockey alums with the proper credentials.

Caught the last 7 minutes of Monty's show--Will Butcher was with him. Asked anout rivalries: cc is biggest rival fanwise, but UND games are the ones. On DU website Ty Loney says he likes to play UND, but doesn't like them...much.

CHN lays out the DU v UND rivalry with results from the 2003 season to the present.

(couple of date errors, but scores are correct--last 3 games in 2003 =WCHA first round. 2004last game NCAA regional,)

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I'm ready for 2 nights of big boy hockey! I call a split. If DU sweeps (and that's a huge IF).... will be interesting to see how Denver ranks next week in the polls. My only question is - do these North Dakota fans actually travel, to each city... or is it more of the local people coming out of the woodwork for their alma mater? I know there's a big North Dakota connection here in Denver to the oil & gas business - and aviation. UND has a tremendous aviation school...so I am inclined to believe that local Denver people - good citizens and neighbors, come out of the closet on this very weekend wearing the green.... to support UND, for a multitutde of reasons. You can't tell me all those people live in Grand Forks near the Olive Garden and Perkins......all fly in to DIA on Delta just for this. Come on... on Sunday, they'll be driving thier SUV's on I-25, with thier Bronco's decals, and faded jeans with but-bling on the pockets for the ladies, and dragon stitching for the guys.

Biggie tonight DU78. I see us winning 4-3. If not too tired, I'll go to my local Buffalo Wild Wings and watch on Root. Otherwise, Jay on Piovision audio which I really don't mind.
By the way, our basketball team is awful.

It is GAME DAY!!!!!!!!!!

GO DU!!!!!!!!

Few events always live up to the hype. A Pioneers/Sioux weekend is one. I've been battling acute bronchitis all week (battling may not be entirely accurate, since I've been on my hands and knees most of the time) but I'll rally 'round tonight.

As "the Bear" would say "tape an aspirin to it and get back out on the ice". ;-)
