Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Well deserved by both! Friday was a real break through for Q. 19 points as a freshman, 25 as a sophomore and he's at 11 with 2/3rds of the season to go. Butch's play is at a different level this year and over the past 2 or 3 weeks he has picked it up even more and has been relentless on the power play.
Heinen and Cowley were also nominated.

Last week Joey won and Doremus (4 points--a career game high) and Heinen were both nominated for honors.

Donovan in his first game of the season for the Isles. He has been a healthy scratch all season so far.

Good for him!

Butler made his debut with the Blues this weekend.

And tonight Zucker scored 2 goals--#1 star. His 8 goals are tied for 2nd on the Wild

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Denver has a strange fanbase, man. Tonight we counted at least 6 people who sit by us in sec 2 - who are DU regulars - assumingly season ticket bearers... wearing Badger colours and cheering for Bucky. Even stranger, those same exact people wear their Fighting Sue shirts when North Dakota is here. Yet, for the BC weekend they wore Pioneer jerseys. WTH is with that ????
The NCAA Fan Shop thanks you

Our fans aren't the only confused people in Magness. For those that weren't in the arena, our genius arena audio/music people decided to turn Magness into Camp Randall with about 2 mins left in the 3rd and the Badgers having all of the momentum trying to tie the game. What song do they decide to play when we are playing Wisconsin late in the 3rd? House of Pain's Jump Around. People wearing red all through the stadium started to pop up like prairie dogs and get even louder.

Beau can't catch a break ( Shouldn't say break --don't want to hex him) I think he's only been back for 2 weeks after injury during training camp.

Colborne's Forces is an initiative started by Pio Joe Colborne to thank members of the Canadian Forces for their seervice.
Joe has purchased season’s tickets for Canadian Forces members to attend every Flames home game. Following every home game, the Canadian Forces guests will meet the Flames forward and check out the team’s locker room. The guests will also be saluted in-game throughout the year.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question - does anyone have a link to our 2014-2015 media guide? On our website I could only find 2013-2014 and earlier.

Cool charity Jumbo is doing. Man, Beau. Feel bad for him. He hasn't been healthy for any extended period since at least starting at DU.

Ever since we moved to Denver in 2002, and after just a year of full Avalanche season tickets and ungodly I-25 rush hour headaches, we converted to college hockey and just love it. My old lady and I (try) to go on a DU road trip each season. We've already been to UM, UW, UND. Oddly enough, we've never been to CC or AFA. But this year I think we're going to do the Omaha weekend. Anyone have any tips, or insights? I hear the team hotel is connected to the arena. That's pretty convenient. I like to stay at the team hotel if I can.

I am not sure a media guide was published this season.

Strange.

32 Degrees - Great minds must think alike. I was asking about the media guide because I'm heading up to St. Cloud in March and was trying to find out where the team was staying (they've always published it there in previous years). Coincidentally, last year I went to Omaha and it was the first year I stayed in the team hotel. It was at the Doubletree. Nice enough hotel but it wasn't connected to the arena. Although, I think there is a hotel that connects to the arena that might have been booked because there was a huge volleyball tournament in Omaha that weekend. I don't have any great suggestions - there was a decent sports bar right next to the arena that we went to (DJ's Dugout, I think). The Old Market area is definitely worth going to. We went to the Upstream Brewing Company that had some good beers. Although I've never been, I've heard Omaha has a great zoo. If you're into gambling, there's some Indian reservations somewhere around there. I didn't go but another DU fan that was there did.

The Henry Dourly Zoo is one of the world's best. Far better than you might imagine. It's well worth the price of admission.

And there is gaming across the river in Council Bluffs on "river boats." As I understand it, these things are actually fired up and moved once a year to maintain the "river boat" designation. Plenty of chances to "game."

Thanks for the info. We usually stick pretty close to the stadium (arena) wherever we go. It's pretty much in and out for the hockey. Maybe a bar or a restaraunt; nothing too exciting for us. We're there for one reason - to see DU kick ash. But we have a good time nonetheless

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

As far as I know, only half of the NCHC programs have put out media guides. I believe UMD and WMU are going to release media guides but am not sure about DU and SCSU. Anyway, a guide from the previous season will have mostly the same info, sans stats and such from the season prior. The Google should fill in any gaps...

The weekly game notes are close to the same as a media guide. It's also possible that they're delaying the release of a digital version because a bunch of youth hockey players are trying hard to sell programs at every home game.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

DU defenseman Will Butchers named to U-20 Preliminary Roster for the WJC. He is a returning player and is considered a lock for the team. Goalie Evan Cowley was not selected for USA. Also forward Danton Heinen was not selected for Team Canada. No US college players were selected for Team Canada.

One of the goalies selected was an injured player Cowley replaced at camp.

I think Team Canada is prejudiced against US college players:mad:

Update on recruits--no letters of intent (so far)

2015-16
Troy Terry# F USHL NTDP U18
6 0-1-1 -1
Troy Terry-I've been impressed with Terry since making the move to the NTDP this year. He's not playing a big scoring role on the team, but I think his skating has improved since joining the NTDP. He's always had good hands and a strong stick. He's just barely eligible for the 2015 Draft, so he's a young kid, and he appears to be trending in the right direction.
