Re: All Things Denver XXXII

cctig says:
Many of you know the details from this classic game played last Friday. But for those that do not you can catch the encore presentation of the Colorado College Tigers’ 4-3 dramatic overtime victory against Denver. It was such a great game that CBS Sports Network will replay the game on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2:30 p.m. MT. Or if you don't have time to watch the game check out the great ending below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=77uyNSbOsws

CC fans were encouraged to wear black for this game and most did, so a bit hard to tell but the World Arena had bodies in 98% of the seats, and many have said (self-included) that it was the loudest (about 7,700 people) it has ever been inside the arena when Krusher scored in OT on a penalty shot.

For those that may wonder, Alexander Krushelnyski is the son of Mike Krushelnyski.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Here it is Thurs. PM and hardly a word about this week's series with the Bemidji Bunyans, oops, mean Beavers. Last two games Pios have been playing well, but not getting the WIN. Pios seem to play up to the competition. Beavs may not be on top of the standings, cut Can't let these 4 points get away.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

From MapleLeafs.com Hopefully, this won't be the last time we see Jumbo with the Leafs this season.
With Armstrong coming off IR, the Leafs had to make a roster move and following practice Joe Colborne was assigned to the Toronto Marlies. In nine games with the big club, Colborne had one goal, four points and was a plus one.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Over the next 12 games DU has only 1 game against a ranked opponent - Union who is currently at #10. This takes DU through the end of January. Eight of these 12 games will be league games with 4 games against Bemidji, 2 against SCSU and 2 against UAA. Those are 16 extremely important league points which DU really needs to have to put themselves in a good position for the national tournament. DU is capable of getting all 16 points starting with this weekend's series in Bemidji. DU has 3 non-conference games at Magness; Union for a single game and UAH for two. They have a non-conference game against AF in the Springs. Jay Z will only miss the Union and AF games due to the WJC. Again DU is capable of winning these 4 non-conference games. Tomorrow starts the chance for DU to start a nice winning streak which will move them up in the league standings and increase their PWR position for the national tourney. Sam Brittain is on schedule to return in goal at the end of January in the series at UAA. That series will give him 2 games to get back in the swing of things before DU faces the meat grinder of their remaining schedule.

That remaining schedule will be against all the powers in the league; 2 with CC, 2 with Minny, 2 with the Badgers, 2 with UND and 2 with UNO. Those 20 points are going to be the most difficult to get. If DU gets the majority of those points they will be in the national tourney. The key is DU needs to start to consistently win games beginning tomorrow.

Thats VERY wishful thinking.

Jay Z will only miss the Union and AF games due to the WJC.

JZ will also miss next weekend's trip to St Cloud I believe, WJC camp starts Saturday in Alberta.

Has there been any indication of an alternate for Faulk? I doubt CAR will release him...could be Mayfield?

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

So it's game day and for the first time in a long time we had no series thread with our rivals. It definitely seems as though we have lost some steam this year where posting is concerned. Two theories:

1- Our team is stuck in the middle of the standings, it's been a while since that has happened.
2- We miss our leader Swami.

Discuss!!

According to Gwoz JayZ is playing in the SCSU series and then joining Team USA after on Sunday.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

That's awesome! (but I'm shocked Blais/USAH allowed it)

I think Saturday is mostly a check-in day. Blais knows what he is getting in Jay Z and probably doesn't really need to have him run full tilt through the training camp as he obviously is in little danger of not making the team.

Both are good points. It's also a case of the fans not posting.
I haven't posted nearly as much as the old days...although I have been a lot more this season.
Individual teams have their own boards that keep people away from here.

The DU vs. CC threads this season have been the most lame I have ever seen.

It also seems that we are so wrapped in talking about former Pioneers in the NHL and minor leagues that we forget that we are actually playing hockey here. Matt Carle and Tyler Bozak are going very well in the NHL, but I feel the games that the current Pioneers are playing are far more important.

I think we need to get our focus back to the current team and our opponents and talk about the current team that we have, which in my mind is under-performing at the moment and has collective case of A.D.D.

I know my views on this subject will rub people the wrong way, but when I see on CC week barely any posts on the game against them and a thread on life support for the game...it drives me insane.

Of course....my opinion could just fall on deaf ears like during the CC week...when after I made a few posts regarding the game....still nothing happened.

Truly understand dubbie and Dmann's concerns.
New blood--most of us have been posting for awhile, but where are the other fans?
High Expectations/Fear of disappointment--goes back to the RIT loss.
Swami was never afraid of being critical, are we afraid of making somebody mad?

Primarily a DU hockey fan but, I, for one, am pleased/excited that we have 4(5 for awhile) former Pios in the NHL. And I'll still throw in news about them.

Now, Gwoz says this team is special. I'm more than ready for them to show that consistently. Need to string together wins is paramount. Splitting on the road in the next 4 games is not acceptable. Need all 8 points to begin a run and end the 1st half on a strong positive note.

I was amazed at how little activity there was from last Friday's game. And for the previous CC/DU game at DU, I don't even think I posted. There just wasn't much conversation. There seem to be less regular posters on the board so far this season. Given the fact that there aren't many for CC and DU to begin with, it shows up ten fold for us.

I haven't been on the board a lot this season until recently, either. So I missed what happened with Swami. Why isn't he posting at all this year?

I don't condemn the posting of the news about former Pios in the NHL and such. I love knowing what they're doing. I feel that there is too much of a priority put on posting about them than about the current team.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Yeah, I guess I haven't been posting as much, either. As to CC-DU--I still get as nervous and excited about these games as I ever have, but I just don't feel the need to talk crap to CC fans. It's not like I ever knows who's gonna win these games, so I don't see the sense in talking smack before the game.

I also post a little less here, because DG's blog is another go-to place for discussion. It used to be all here on USCHO, now there's another place to check in with other DU fans.

Finally, I'm still waiting for the Pioneers to really define themselves as a team. They are still a work in progress, and I don't feel like I know much about them until they show "who they are" this year. I can tell that they're a hard-working & talented team. But they haven't really gelled yet. I hope they make progress in this respect over the next couple of series.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

I think Swami's absence is evident here. But, I understand his reasoning for not being here.

Ok....so thoughts on the game tonight!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

If this team is going to make any noise this season, they need to run off 10 to 12 wins by the end of January, starting this weekend. This is completely doable given that they play only 1 ranked team through the end of January. They need to start dominating games and giving 60 minute efforts with positive results. They need a goalie to step up and steal a game. Sam probably would have stolen 2 or 3 games already had he been healthy. No knock on Adam or Jussi, but neither has stolen a game for DU this season. They have played well but not spectacular. With the talent on this team, it should not be sitting in the middle of the league standings or on the outside of the PWR looking in. They already have 5 losses and 3 ties. Back in my day we only had 6 losses in 40 games all season and only 1 tie with 5 OT wins. The boys came to play every night no matter who the opponent was. They never played down to the skill level of an opponent and dictated the pace of the game from the get go. It is time for DU to start running some teams out of buildings. Now lets go out and get 4 points this weekend and 4 more next!

I wish the entire team had Jay Z's fervor, he posted this earlier today:
Gameday vs. Bemidji State. Need the 4 points this weekend. Here we go! #leeggoo #beastmode

Looks like Wade Bennett is on the trip. he posted this today and looks like he is raring to get in a game.
Up in antarctica for a series with bimidji state and needing some wins #freezing #notincaliforniaanymore #4points
FWIW, Swami is not coming back.
