Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Forward Lines Shuffle:
At Tech Friday lines: 1. Zucker-D.Shore-Salazar
2. Larraza-N.Shore-Doremus
3. Mermis-Ostrow-Jackson
4. Tabrum-Open-Loney

At Tech Saturday Lines: 1. Zucker-D. Shore-Tabrum+++
2. Mermis+-N.Shore-Loney++
3. Larraza--Ostrow-Jackson
4. Doremus---Open-Salazar---

Now throw Chris Knowlton into this equation. Who plays where?

Knowlton probably inserted into the 2nd or 4th line. Tabrum wears a suit IMO. and then there's Bennett who will be a gametime decision.

Ottawa Senators Prospects

Looking to improve on a challenging first season in professional hockey with Binghamton is Patrick Wiercioch. The 6'4 192-pound two-way defenseman turned pro after his sophomore season at Denver and improved gradually over the course of the season learning to use his puck skills and size to his advantage. Wiercioch will be given the opportunity to play the power-play point this season and play major minutes in all situations. He'll need some more seasoning and has to work on his strength and skating to have success on the next level
.
Looks like Patrick will again spend this year in the AHL. Ottawa still has a couple of Dmen ahead of him.
(Should have stayed at DU for another year.)

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Man! This team frustrated me tonight. We played a great first period an ok second and a crappy third and fourth. Lucky to get the one point. t reigning champs were far more into then we were. PP is looking like a cheap suit. Adam played a decent game. I was impressed with Mermis. Knowlton played well early and then ran out of gas. Zucker was clutching his stick most of the night--lots of forced passes. Nick played well. Missing Beau. Hope he's back tomorrow.

At least we won't have to put up with 57 Tig invasions this weekend after Howe spread his legs to give up a TD.

Thank God for that.

It was Knowlton's first game and that penalty in the 3rd was a definite sign of lack of game play...lazy/gassed penalty. Zucker was flying around the ice all night, but passes did seem a bit off. Would be great to have Beau back, but want him 100% healed for cc next week. Glad to see Nick breaking out, but even if Drew didn't score he certainly has a presence on the ice.
Have to give tdogs credit for gritty comebacks.

Penalties especially in the 3rd period.:eek::eek:

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Well, here we are in a young season with our second "must win." We had one last week and blew it. We really need two points tonight. Fail to get them, and this is a team that at a minimum, is badly underperforming, or worse.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Know this is game day, but in honor of DG's fave Taryn Hemmings thought it was appropriate to note 3 women soccer players made Academic All District. The lowest GPA--only a 3.97--in physics and electrical engineering.

DU's representative on the men's soccer Academic All District team was at a lowly 3.90--poor baby.

;) ;)

Very impressive. Makes this old grad proud (and a bit jealous).

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

After only two points the last two weekends, I think it's fair to say we're stinking up the WCHA. One hopes this can be corrected, otherwise this is gonna be a long season.

No show tonight. tUMD played a nearly perfect road game and spanked us. They moved the puck and clogged the neutral zone at will. I don't think this team is a team. A bunch of talented guys trying to do it on their own. PP 0-9 on the weekend. I expect they'll recover--I hope it doesn't take too long.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Well...Duluth deserved the win. The UMD seniors were real difference makers--Reiter, Connolly, Oleksuk, Lamb and Kishel.

>Zucker, the team and the fans will all wonder what would have happened if he made the penalty shot. ( I was hoping the shot would have been a little jazzier than the one he took.) Not saying we would have won the game, but at least we wouldn't have been shutout. If not for the puny power play would Gwoz have taken the man advantage??

>Where were the big guns? Mark Rycroft said it not I, and not to put down Jarred Mermis--"If Mermis is your best player for the entire game, you're in trouble."

>Have to believe we will see different line combinations again Saturday. 12-6 or 11-7?

>The PK was much better Saturday. First game UMD had not scored on the PP all year

Hate to say this, but I'm glad cc won Sat. night. :eek:
Nothing worse than a bunch of p*ssy pussycats loose in your house.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

The lack of success on the PP is a real head scratcher. I agree with Viz, JZ scoring on the penalty shot could have made a difference. But that misses the larger point, IMO. Here we are pinning our hopes for a victory on an extremely rare call. We just don't want to be in a position of waiting for lightning to strike. We've got another "must win" game coming up this week. A loss to CC, and this entire season is in jeopardy of going down the crapper. Something's going on here and I wish I could figure it out. After we lit up MSU, I think many of us thought what a really exceptional team they are, how they could score in bunches and how they were going to be a factor in April. All of that now seems a bit like thinking "only God himself could sink this ship."

It's not too late, of course, but this can't go on much longer or it will be. Maybe we're gonna do a Sioux this season and show up for the second half.

The question was: Is Tebowing Grimaldi's goal celebration?

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Did everyone oversleep this morning?
INCH's power rankings has DU at #13 and tUMD at #16. Did someone not see the games at Magness?

I hate seeing us slip in the polls. Let's look on the bright side. Remember the 03-04 season? We didn't start to click until January and look how that season turned out!! Look at what North Dakota does every year!!! It's early, it's a long season, we've got lots au talent and Brittain will
return.

Glass half full post!!
