I've been a DU fan since before you were born. You're entitled to take me to the woodshed if you think I need it for my expressing frustration with this club. But your enthusiasm and die hard support for the team doesn't give you the right to read me or anybody else out of the fan base. Without knowing for certain, I think I've been a DU fan longer than anyone who posts here. And I think that establishes my bona fides. The problem here is not me. The problem is a team that has gone badly off the rails and is running out of time to get it together. I'm frustrated, and for the past couple of weeks have expressed that frustration. However, paraphrasing Rycroft, there is no one on the planet who loves DU more than me. I AM a "real" fan. You're frustrated too and I appreciate that. But please don't beat me up for saying what many of us are thinking. Deal?

Dang. If there is a "prerequisite" for being a Pio, I nail it by being to practically EVERY DU game since I was born. I celebrated the '86 MacNaughton as a child in the Broadmoor World Arena's visitor's locker room. Need I go on? I currently am WAAAAAAAY more involved with the program than you. I am also about to watch 2nd period puck drop here...

Ok and we all went through the dark days of the late 80s and early 90s when we were lucky to see a win. Do we really need to argue amongst ourselves when it comes to how great of fans we are?

We're all frustrated. I'm not sure if you were there last night Chris, but I was seething in anger after that game. The mistakes made were mistakes that they should have learned from in JUNIORS. It was a complete lack of focus. They were flat footed in the first period and it seemed for most of the game that they had ADD. EVERY Denver fan had EVERY right to be angry after that game last night. There were NO EXCUSES!

Tonight, I am listening online and watching "Hockey Night in Canada" with my parents and girlfriend. The drive from Topeka to Omaha is a bit much right now...especially with the gas prices here.

I didn't challenge your committment to DU. I reminded you that mine is just as strong. I believe I'm entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Geography doesn't determine who is and is not a "real" fan. I didn't start this, in fact tried to end it. Sadly, to no avail.

There's no argument. I just don't appreciate being disrespected. I'm allowed to express my opinions without his consent and without being abused. And his father would certainly have agreed with me on that point.

Big win for DU. In front of a big crowd baying for the sweep, and against a very good team. JZ lit 'em up. And Sammee eventually got dialed in. Very big win.

LOL. And for you to invoke my father? Senseless... He and I talked DU hockey every day of my life until his passing. I know what he knew, minus the super-personal relations he had with people -- however, I am growing my own relations with an already in-built knowledge of our lovely game that I have had my whole entire life and he did not attain until approximately my age.

Be mad at me, not like me, so on...I could care less, but for every drip of knowledge he ever espoused here I attained a drop of said knowledge

How sad, to be so completely convinced of your own "specialness" that you feel free to upbraid, insult, disrespect and abuse any DU fan who deviates from your orthodoxy. You're the only one who thinks none of us are allowed to express a discouraging word. Very sad. Swami tried to tell you how far out of line you're being, but you're not listening, even to him. I can only hope you'll come to your senses.

All I have to say is that none of us is bigger than anyone else in their "fandom". It doesn't matter how long you have backed the team. Who's place is it to say we can't be angry or frustrated after seeing the team play poorly. When you pay money for a product, you expect a good product....it's simple.

Chris, I repsect you as a DU fan, but questioning if someone is a real fan because they're P.Oed is WAY OUT OF LINE. I was in the arena for the loss against Omaha and what I saw was a display that would drive a pee wee coach mad. The mistakes that were made were repetitive mental errors. Numerous times we had guys with their heads down, not looking where they were passing, not being in the right positions...I was losing my hair quicker than normal last night while watching it.

When you give up 2 shorties to Tech....then a WEEK later make the same freaking mistakes....we have EVERY right to be ******ed off.

Tonights win is a big one, but it does not mask the fact that this team has some serious issues. I think they have done well in what is supposed to be a re-building year, but when it seemed like the team was making strides, they fell into some sort of funk that has looked like a case of hockey ADD. They are a Jeckyl and Hyde team and we expect more.

Ok...rant over....where's the tylenol?

Well, if someone hadn't tried to convince ME that he knew more about how my father viewed and approached his support of the program, then I wouldn't have had to be a bit upset. I offer no apologies for anything I said, I just wish I hadn't felt the need to defend myself against all this hooey.

If people didn't feel the need to be judgmental about Gwoz, the players or whatever, then that "door of judgmental thought" would have never been opened and I would not have approached it. As it is known, don't judge lest you be judged yourself.

Getting all biotchy on the internet does no good for the program, provides no answers and does not inspire the rest of the fan base. A few people who yell and biotch about everything do not represent what the DU fan base is all about, no matter how much some people wish they could control how the rest of the fans should feel.

I mean, when Gwoz takes notice and calls you guys out, there is a problem. All I was trying to say was chill out and relax a bit. It's not like I was wrong for calling you guys out, either, since pretty much the same day Gwoz did as well. I don't see anyone all ****y with him. Double standard, anyone? What, I'm supposed to go along with the hooey just because you guys do? Maybe I think for MYSELF and could give a rat's *** if I go along with the flow.

I just learned a standard of love and dedication for the DU program from my father, Jimbo, which apparently not even the people who look up to him even knew about. So, if people are going to use his legend, legacy or whatever, they probably should have an understanding of where he was coming from. Sadly, this understanding obviously does not exist. Does anyone truly believe he would have reached his respect level if he had behaved in such a way as to belittle ANYTHING about the program in public? He reached that level by being the antithesis of what I have seen displayed lately. If people want to look up to him, people should have a better understanding of HOW he supported the program. In talking to Mike Chambers after his passing, Mike told me that while Jimbo would talk to him anytime about DU, he would NEVER say anything that was detrimental or unsupportive and that was why he respected him.

In closing, I would like to state that I never intended (nor made, I think) any personal attacks. I never stated anything to anybody by name, it was just more of a generality that I was concerned about these attitudes. But, like stated, it was not just me -- it was Bacher, Gwoz et al. Also, I again just wish I had not felt the need to try and prove my worthiness....

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Okay, time to remember we have 2 games this weekend against a St Cloud team that is finally playing as expected at the beginning of the year. We are 1 point ahead of UNO and 2 ahead of tUMD. the good news is they play each other and in all likelihood will split.

BUT, DU needs at least one win to hold on to 2nd place. TWO wins would be better.:)

One win won't get the job done for DU unless UMD & UNO split OR UMD takes three points from UNO this weekend.

UNO has the tiebreaker with DU [WCHA goal differential]. UMD & DU are currently tied in the playoff seeding tiebreaker, but the Bulldogs likely would have a better WCHA goal differential if they swept UNO this weekend and DU split. So to sum things up, DU would probably finish third with a split.

WCHA's tie-breaking procedures, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head, followed by most conference wins, followed by least goals allowed in games among the tied teams(only if teams have played four games against each other), followed by goal differential in WCHA games.
