Re: All Things Denver XXX

Wow what a game last night!!! I thought DU played it's best hockey of the season last night and really controlled the tempo in overtime. Both teams had incredible chances to put it away and it was the kind of end to end hockey that makes for a great tune up the the NCAAs. I'm not thrilled about our bracket, I was hoping they would come to Manchester, but I guess that wouldn't make too much sense. I'm really happy with the way we're playing going into the tournament, I just hope we're not too banged up!!

Go DU!!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXX

For whatever reason, when I go to the DU website, for both Friday and Saturday, where you normally see postgame interviews I have 2 big blank spaces.:eek:

Found this link for Friday night
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2_Fi3cKP4g

When questioned about who would you rather play, Gwoz said something to Drew which I couldn't make out, but it must have been funny. Know what he said and a link to Saturday postgame interview, anybody?

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Denver hockey is ignorant and arrogant if they thought they should have won the WCHA title game.

There were at least 3 terrible calls against the Sioux (maybe one for Denver) during regular play, and horse**** reffing in OT.

Sioux missed two open nets and played mediocre hockey for most the game and still Denver couldn't get a win.

Yawn...all calls against UND are terrible...we know. Not even going to say anything about your other ramblings. It was a great hockey game. UND won...end of. We'll see you in a week.

Campus Lounge is usually a good spot for Tourney games.

Heck of a game last night, Pioneers.
I really thought DU was going to win it in the 1st OT, they were really creating some great chances.
It's too bad that these two teams can't meet in StP instead...as they are by far the class of the WCHA and could easily have both advanced if they weren't placed in the same bracket.
Good luck against WMU...and if we both can advance, we can hope for the same type of game as last night.

We'll see you in a week.

No looking past RPI and WMU yet! :)

Very true. I think we will see eachother again....barring a complete collapse. Can't lose in the first round again....can we?

No, no, sweetie, it's spelled b-o-r-e.

I'm not thrilled about our bracket...

Neither am I, as a Sioux fan. I think some Denver fans can relate to the feeling that when you start to go to the national tournament on a regular basis, more than anything you just want a shot at one of the other big teams that you don't play ALL THE TIME. When the bracket looks like this you have to win two games to get to those teams, which is no easy task, no matter how good your season has been.

I'd rather have Union, Merrimac, or Michigan and it might be more fun for DU fans to see Yale, BC, or Miami in the regional finals.

You forgot to mention the fact that UND scored 1, maybe even 2 very lucky goals. Oh wait...that doesn't favor your argument.

Agreed 100%!!! I would like to see a team we don't play much. Union, Merrimack, even a Notre Dame or UNH.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

DU is playing really well right now and just needs to take it one game at a time and get on a nice 4 game win streak. It is not going to be easy but it is never easy winning the NCAA title. DU has to focus on beating WMU next Saturday. That is goal #1 and the only thing the team should be thinking about all week. I am sure Rico will give Gwoz lots of advice in how to beat WMU. The boys should be well prepared. If they advance to the regional final there will be few surprises if DU has to face UND again. If RPI happens to be the opponent, it will be like father and son coaching against each other. Will the crafty veteran coach be able to beat his young protege. If they successfully make it out of the region DU will have to face the winner of the BC regional (BC, CC, Mich & UNO) in the semi-final of the Frozen Four. DU played 3 of those 4 teams this season with Michigan being the only exception. BC took DU to the woodshed in the 2nd series of the season and showed why they were the defending champs. The DU team learned a lot about themselves that October weekend and it was a great learning experience. I am sure the boys would like another crack at them if they meet. CC and UNO are familiar opponents which DU has shown they can win against as well as lose. Michigan is the least familiar team but DU has faced them in the playoffs over the years with mixed results. It will not be an easy road to get to the final game but if DU plays like they can, they have a chance. They are playing their best hockey right now and if they keep it up they could be playing for the title on April 9th in a very familiar place in St. Paul.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

I just can't get over how well we played last night (I guess I shouldn't say "we", but you all know what I mean). Crisp passing, laser shots, awesome play making, fast, fast , fast. We could have beaten anybody the way we played last night. I really wasn't that heart broken when ND scored. If we can play like this against WMU, we should have no problem. I have to say however, I am a little surprised Donovan got the accolades. I didn't think he had a very good series, especially against the Beavers. He'll bring this Saturday though I'm sure.
