Just boarded my plane to dc from Minneapolis, which was the plane that carried your pioneers from Denver. They looked none worse for wear. I razzed them a bit about my unh boys getting it done this year. One question, though: what's with the faux hawk/mohawks???
Nice guys, though - props to your team.
I second,So I just had to reread all of the posts leading up to the shocker Swami released last night. Like Pablo, I can't wrap my mind around someone who feels the need to threaten him for his opinions. Don't these people have anything better to do? Are they so intolerant that they have to threaten someone who doesn't think exactly like they do? Good Lord!!! Well, we the DU brethren (and I'm sure others from our rival teams) are here for you Swami!!
Vive Le Swami!!!
You have some good points, Donald. My response here reflects a bigger issue. I do listen and I do have a thick skin, believe me. I've endured all manner of nasty and sometimes threatening letters, emails and even parental confrontations, some of them scary. I've always bounced back from these periodic personal episodes, but one unsigned letter I received this week is particularly concerning and has me currently in the process of reconsidering my entire participation here.
This year, more than any other, has seen more backlash against me than any other year before. I don't think the things I've written have been substantially more inflammatory now than in previous years, but I do think some people out there have clearly had their cumulative fill of me. As such, posting is much less fun/cathartic as it once was. If this were a college football or basketball board with hundreds of thousands posting opinions, I don't think people would bother much with one individual internet opinion. But in college hockey, where the viewership is tiny and the community somewhat insular, one voice can seem way more outsized then it really is...
I have posted on these boards for 15 years, with the last 11 under the current moniker. I've weathered plenty of praise and criticism, some of it warranted, some of it not. I've had a lot of fun here, and there's been difficult times too. I've dished it out in the most factual and informed way that I can, and I've tried to keep arguments to the content or idea, rather than get involved in emotional flamefests. I've tried to add insight and value, and I've met a lot of great people here over the years.
I suppose I could participate with more caution, less honest opinions and only provide positive commentary. But that just isn't me. I am just too passionate for that. God knows, I love my school, I love this game and I love this board and the community behind it. But when your honest opinions posted for entertainment and fun begin to have unforseen implications beyond a message board with people who matter, it might be time to find for me to find different ways to participate...

I'd be cool with them ditching the faux-hawks, and just focusing on playing well. Call me crazy. My understanding is that instead of playoff beards this year they are going with the mohawks.

Just landed in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Should be a fun weekend. I'll take photos.
Happy St Patricks Day

Let's stay classy Denver! There's always the simple two word answer.
But if it bothers you when when players, parents, coaches and administrators don't find your posts to be passionate negative critiques but rather mean spirited attacks; if you want to avoid parental confrontations, some of them scary; if you don't want to be the one to put the chip on the players shoulders or the one fans are cheering against in favor of their team - you might want to think about changing your posting style. I'm just sayin.
But then again, my answer to the white knights that are bound to come running to support the former style of posting is that simple two word answer.![]()
I hope its green for St. Patricks Day.Let's hook up - I've got a t-shirt for you.

If you don't like it, the boys on the hockey team have two words for your doubting asses.![]()

I really enjoy your contributions to this online community and I certainly hope you don't go anywhere. Worst case scenario I will send you a fighting sioux fan club membership application and waive the fees as a friendly gesture. But seriously don't go anywhere we need your voice of reason and fact checking.
