Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Chevy played at Florida's rookie camp, but is not on the training camp roster.:(

Unless he really stands out in the minor leagues, he may have a tough time in Florida with the GM change. Markstrom seems to be the one anointed to replace Vokoun now.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Today is 09/18/10.
There are 14 days until DU's next game.

Wearing #14 for DU is Senior forward, Alternate Captain Jesse Martin.

This is based upon the first exhibition game on October 2nd.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Rock is #49 on NY Islanders training camp roster.

Chevy was #31 on Florida Panthers training camp roster but as noted earlier was not invited to the main training camp.

Joe Colborne is on the main training camp roster for the Boston Bruins. No numbers noted on their training camp roster.

If this doesn't work, it is on the Bruins website in the training camp blog.

Rhett now wearing #59 at Isles camp.
First in line for drills.http://www.flickr.com/photos/nyislanders/5004435655/

Ottawa's blue liner Kuba hurt, broken leg, first day in camp. Acording to GM Bryan Murray,
"It does open the door for one of the kids to get more ice time, particularly in pre-season, and somebody hopefully will emerge and be a good player for us."

Sorry for any player to be injured. Could be a chance for Wiercioch or Cowen.

Update on Bozak:

Chambers has an interesting story in his Denver Post blog today. DU apparently paid their own way to Albany last season for the NCAA regionals as no commercial flights were available to take the team. Apparently the NCAA will only reimburse a school for commercial flights. When DU was unable to get enough seats on a commercial flight, Peg went to the board and got approval for $60,000 for a charter flight. If DU's cut from theWCHA tourney was approximately $100,000, it looks like $60,000 of it went to flying the team to the NCAAs. Could you imagine if DU's hockey team was not a money maker. Would they have turned down the NCAA invite?

Just what I needed, ANOTHER reason to hate the g.d. NC$$. The probation, making us go to Ann Arbor to play Michigan and their jihad against the North Dakota Sioux (and poor Chief Illiniwek). Meh.

Somebody ought to tell those arseholes to stop trying so hard, they've got us convinced.

You forgot to mention 2008 when DU was sent to Madison to play Wisconsin in the 1st round of the Regionals. Earlier in the season there was a major brouhaha about a goal/non-goal against the badgers.

The common thread is that Denver has to fly wherever they go for the Regionals so they send us whereeveevah!:( Miami got sent to Fort Wayne; we should have gone to Minneapolis and let one of the lower seeds go the East. But, Nooo. Must be a NC$$ conspiracy.:p

BTW, official practices started 9/15--2 hours per week. Regular practices begin 10/2 the day of our first exhibition game. Captain's practices taking place every afternoon. Hyder interview with Gwoz on the DU hockey website.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Greetings from Latvia:

Just saw Brock Trotter score his first KHL goal in a 6-3 Dinamo Riga win.

Brock was fired up by a pre-game visit from Denver Boone. Might be a picture or two in the next week or 10 days...

Go Pios.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

No chance Hawaii is getting a hockey team going.

Re the NCAA/jihad against the Indian nicknames....

I felt like throwing up in my mouth when I saw that Miles Brand on the B-ball court during the basketball tournament.

Definition of warrior:
1.One who is engaged in or experienced in battle.
2.One who is engaged aggressively or energetically in an activity, cause, or conflict: neighborhood warriors fighting against developers.

Of course, that may mean nothing to the NCAA.

If Uof H adds hockey, DU would have to add surfing.:D :p
