I am excited that DU is playing 2 exhibition games this year instead of one (Lethbridge and USNDT). This allows the DU coaching staff a better chance to evaluate players under game conditions, and allows more line chemistry to be built in a short period of time. DU is going to need all the help they can get with that brutally tough first part of the regular season schedule.

It will be interesting to see how they split up the goaltending assignments over the two games as well.

One period each for Murray, Brittain & Paulgaard in the first exhibition and 30 minutes each for Murray & Brittain in the 2nd game.

Murray starts on Friday nights & Brittain on Saturdays until further notice.

NHL draft combine started yesterday. DU recruits Jason Zucker, Beau Bennett, and Sam Brittain werte invited to attend. That puts them among the Top 100 Prospects.

Anybody else wondering why there is still no official announcement of team captain for next year?

Rumor posted on the Blog that the Islanders are pushing to sign Matt Donovan now.

That would be a big loss for the Pioneers if true. While he would probably play in Bridgeport (AHL), I think he would have a very hard adjustment there. I think most knowledgeable hockey people would leave him in Denver for another year to get faster and stronger. Seems like the Islanders would be rushing his development...

I haven't heard anything here (Long Island). Nothing by Botta in his blog, Kate Strang in Newsday or HF Boards. Anything is possible especially considering the Isles made their first trade in 37 years with the Rangers yesterday.

Gopher Aaron Ness and Travis Hamonic from the WHL were both taken in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft. Islanders web site says Hamonic is expected to sign.

My advice to the Isles: Take Ness(you know Minnesota doesn't develop players --remember Okposo) and leave Donovan alone.

Hamonic is going to be signed by June 1st, its already a done deal. He is playing in the Memorial Cup right now.

That was one depressing poem I remember from HS! (Longfellow?) about ship captain who ties his daughter to the ship when a hurricane comes and of course, the daughter dies.

Who do we tie to the ship?

Whoever comes up with another "too cute for words" thread title. I'm putting that in the same category as the much loved gold jerseys (which really aren't that bad, it's just the results when we wore them that stink).
