Another pointless post. Given the success of Swami's suggestion for us to list our ten best DU game experiences, perhaps we could get about as many people to share their favorite varnish stories.

Matt Carle and the Flyers lead 3-2 after the first

I have watched precious little hockey this year. It was nice to see Carle on the ice so much. I have to say that I would be pretty okay with either team winning this series.

Me too, but when push comes to shove, I gotta go with the Flyers and Carle!! He does look good out there, no look passes, crisp breakout passes, hard shots, skating hard and fast.... He has got to be one of the best players to ever play for DU!! And Old Pio, you're so right about this picture on the home page. The smug coach, the geeky player. I cannot believe we lost to those guys!!!!

I'd really like to go 2 out of 3 with those a-holes. And I'm deeply conflicted on the Cup. Want Carle to do well, of course, but I'm old enough to remember that last Blackhawks cup in the Pleistocene era. I think a bunch of us were bowling when they clinced it. Ah, the six team league--playing the same five clubs over and over again--those really were the days.

I hear you about the six team thing, I just have to rout for Carle. Um, Ok, is it going to take Old Pio and Dmann alone to kill this thread or what, people, people, people, work with me here!!!

Wait, wait, I've got an idea, the person who gets the #1000 post on this thread gets a prize!!! What do you think!!!!

No question I would like to see Matt Carle's name on the Stanley Cup. But should the Blackhawks prevail, hanging in the rafters of the United Center there is homage to a great DU and Blackhawk player, Keith Magnuson.

Here are 3 memories of #3.

Here's some results of the physcial tests at the NHL Combine.
Bennett, Brittain and Zucker all finished in the Top 10 in at least 1 category. Brittain being the star with multiple Top 10 finishes and coming out as #1 in Hand Eye Coordination--a good skill for a goalie. You know Brittain and Cheverie are pretty much the same height, but Brittain weighs 25 pounds more than Chevy :-0

Well, that did it. Checked the Memorial Day thread first and got a little misty. Then this post. I'm now officially a blubbering, sniffling old f**t.

Here's my contribution toward killing the thread.

Stopped in at Mustard's as I rolled in to town. Since I last stopped in, they have added bacon to the menu. It's about time.

Well, you might as well go here too to finish it off. Read or watch them all.

I always think of Maggie and Koroll when I think of the Blackhawks, but we shouldn't forget Jim Wiste, Wayne Smith, Lynn Powis and Rich Preston. Add Rob Palmer. (Thanks Bagman)There may be others, but these names were familiar.

On the other side of the ledger. I found DU's Kevin Dineen and Mike Busniuk had skated for the Flyers.

Now I'm doing my part to end this thread. Just please don't send me to Canyon City :p

Rob Palmer played some games with Hawks as well.
