Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Bye is in the rearview mirror!

The green wearing fka Sioux are coming to town.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

What does Gwoz and the Gwozettes have in store for UND fans for the 1st & 2nd intermission entertainment? Dasher Dancing always pulls the "oohs" and "aahs" but I'm hoping for another dramatic walk across the rink. Maybe include a jig of some sort? :D

Looking forward to the games. Despite getting 3 out of the 4 points when the Pios came to Grand Forks the games were really tight. Probably can expect more of the same. Dam(cause I can't say the real one without being censored), Finn.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

You guys gonna create a series thread? Good luck to you guys this weekend... hope you get all four points on the table.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

To all those that said he'd never play in the NHL, that he was too small, that he didn’t have enough heart, that he wasn’t ready yet and would never go beyond the AHL …. JZ has two words for ya!
Out of curiosity, who said that? What I remember is a bunch of Minnesota fans talking about how he would be in the starting lineup from day 1.

Agreed, I don't ever recall anyone on this board that said JZ wasn't NHL material. He is the perfect hockey player, that's what I remember. And while we're at it, who says those "two words" you keep referring to?

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

BBM: I saw JZ play maybe 20 times last year. Nobody player harder and he played with an edge. During one game when he was injured, he stopped in the TV booth to say hello. His hello lasted for the entire period. He was really interesting. Also, he lived and died with every shift wanting so much for his teamates to win. If anything, he came back too early from injuries because he cared about his teamates.

I was surprised Jay Z wasn't invited to the Wild training camp. For an offensively challenged team like them, he is the perfect solution. He has speed like Grabner of the Islanders but is a better finisher IMHO. Would be great to see a race between him and Grabner for fastest skater.

Wild brain trust may have thought the addition of Parise alleviated the need for another Left Wing.

BTW, check out Bozak's first NHL goal on Youtube. JZ's makes him look slow:eek: But Bozie does a little more "deking" In either case they are both Highlight Reel goals

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Did a little research and DU had 11 players in the NHL in 1975-76. That is three more than the current 8 that DU has now. These guys played at DU in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Koroll
Magnuson
Patrick
Venasky
Palmer
Affleck
Bragnalo
McNab
LoPresti
Christie
Lampman

They also had 7 in the WHA
Preston
Grahame
Morenz
Morrison
Wiste
Powis
Noris

Of those 7 Preston and Grahame went onto the NHL when it folded. Wiste, Morrison and Powis had already played in the NHL before the WHA. Another player from the early 70's who also made the NHL was Mike Busniuk in 1979-80.

didn't we determine it was 8 at the present time, rather than 7?

impressive list from 75-76.

Yeah, I looked at list that didn't have Zucker. It could potentially grow to 9 if Donovan gets called up by the Islanders.
