Just started the thread, busy today digging out. Got 12 inches with some 2 foot drifts. Never lost power. Being on the south shore of LI, the snow totals were lower than out east and on the north shore. My sister got 30 inches out east in Suffolk County. Plow finally cleared the street late this afternoon. The big winner was Shelton, CT with 40 inches. First time I had to use the snow blower in 2 years. Luckily it performed like a champ. Eastern Long Island got it the worst. People were stranded in their cars overnight on the major highways as the snow came down so fast, at a rate of 3 inches per hour. Train service is suspended out east and the highways are still closed.
Glad you didn't lose power. Seems like you've had your crappy weather quota for a while.
Wow. I did not know how slow it had been.Yeah there are still people along the shore who still are living without power and heat from Hurricane Sandy. They can't afford to stay in hotels so they have basically been camping out in what is left of their homes. They have been using generators for electric and if they have fireplaces that is their heat source. As usual the gov't has been very slow to help these people.
Great atmosphere in World Arena last night. $20 for a ticket was a steal. So glad I wasn't in attendance for that game in the Springs. That must have been a heartbreaker! The blizzard was something to see!! I have never seen it snow sideways as hard as it did yesterday. Very cool!
Last night's game was like a scizophrenic, Jekyll and Hyde with Bi-Polar disorder:
1st period manic
2nd period depressed
3rd period still depressed then really manic
OT "feelin" pretty good then really, really depressed
Are there any meds available that can cure this syndrome?
A mascot task force was formed by the students and held their first meeting last Tuesday on campus. First thing mentioned was that "Boone would not be one of their choices." I really don't have any more information than that.So what's this garbage about replacing Boone?

I do know that Boone is still wildly popular with the students & that having a student committee come up with a decent Pioneer logo or mascot would be a huge longshot. Its easy to say you don't like something, its sexy to imagine that you could design a school logo that would last forever & who knows what back channel deals are driving this committee.
That being said, I'd put the odds of them reaching a consensus at around 100-1.
If DU wants to make some noise in the post-season, they need to win most of the next 6 games and go into the playoffs on a high note. It will not be an easy task but if you want the big prize you have to beat the best teams at home and on the road.
I would be EXTREMELY happy with six points in these last six games. I wouldn't be surprised if, between Minnesota and North Dakota, we get a total of 2 points. I see no reason not to sweep Anchorage, but I also see no reason why we shouldn't have swept CC, and several other teams that we didn't sweep. Like you, maybe I'm being overly negative, but to me, anything more than 5 total points the rest of the season is more than I expect. Thanks for the analysis. Winning any of those six games will be tough, UAA included. Gwoz has got to light a fire under those guys. We need to play well against all of them. We have to play up to UND and UM, and deny UAA from playing up to our level. Maybe I am being negative, but I am unsure if we get six points these last six games.
I am looking forward to a Sunday midday game. I always like midday games.
Its been sold out for quite some time. Guessing you'll have to really step up your offer.
I think if you could name 2 problems that have absolutely killed a team that we saw a good deal more talent from at the beginning of the season than I expected, it would be bad penalties and bad turnovers in the defensive zone. I really believe that if these guys went through the whole season without these two things (and I don't mean none at all, but, you know, the low number you want from a talented team), the team is top 10 in PWR right now, and probably top 5. As is, I hope we go to the Final 5 (especially since I am going), and I hope we go to the NCAAs but I wouldn't put any money on EITHER of those things. The thing that concerns me with the North Dakota series - and always does anytime we play them, is DU taking stupid penalties. You know it's going to be physical. They could be once again, leaning heavily on Juho to see them through next weekend. If someone like Mayfield or Makowski get all wrapped up in the drama..... decide to do some big hitting or after-whistle swinging... maybe they get kicked out..... now, you put Juho right on the hotseat. I just want a smart series. I foesee a split with UND and a split with UM.
