Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

I came home with my customary Friday night anticipation for a few seconds. Then I realized the Pioneers wouldn't be playing. And a few seconds later, was grateful. I think shrinks call it an approach/avoidance conflict.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

You think we Pio fans are depressed, I had breakfast with some hardcore UMaine fans this morning. Talk about the "end of the world as we know it!"

Just sit down with a Crown Royal and 7, and hum along

All I want for Christmas
is my Pios to score
my Pios to score
see my Pios score more

Gee, if I could only
see my Pios score more
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas!"

:D

Nicely done. What's that old cornball joke? You're a poet and don't know it, but your feet show it, they're longfellows.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

I watched the USA-Finland WJC exhibition game yesterday. Coach Lassonde has some work to do. Seth Jones looks pretty good though; sure wish he would of went the NCAA route instead

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Merry Christmas! WJC start in a few short hours. It's the best hockey of the year. Looking forward to it.

I'm not feeling good about our Pio's chances. I think we've already seen the best performance out of this team. The early buzz about not scoring may in the long run be true.
The biggest issues I see (in order of importance) are.

Lack of depth (not enough F's to staff four lines). Injuries already taking a toll.

Lack of leadership/production from Nick and Ostrow (makes me miss their older bro's).

Big time discipline issues with puck control--super inconsistent.

Work ethic/team focus--too much individual focus.

I except we'll either be completely out in March or a bubble and out in first round. There a too many far more disciplined/talented teams out there this year. I hope I'm wrong!

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Happy Boxing Day!

First year in awhile DU hasn't been represented at the WJC. Takes a little away from the tourney, but our Pios definitely need all hands for BU.

BTW, Jason Zucker is leading the Houston Aeros in scoring.

Once again I have to roll my eyes, sigh and think of what if?

Zucker (sigh), Shore (sigh), Bennett (sigh)!!!!!!!!!!! One can only imagine!!

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

no suggestions?

So, as luck would have it I get to travel to Woodbury, MN here in January. I am planning on going to the MN vs NDame game on the 8th.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to pre-game and/or peeps to hook up with let me know!
thanks!!

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

BU practicing today at Magness Arena. Good decision to get here ahead of the weather on the east coast, plus it gives them an extra day to acclimate to the altitude. It's showtime :D

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

From theahl.com
Binghamton Senators have the best record in the AHL:
On defense, Patrick Wiercioch is having a breakout campaign, with 8-9-17 and a plus-13 rating in 23 games after combining for 8-30-38 and a minus-28 in 124 games over his first two seasons.

Sat., Dec 22, Drew Shore scored his first goal since Nov. 25, 14 games.
(About the same time the DU scoring drought began...coincidence??)
Drew's 20 points put him 2nd in points and tied for first in assists in San Antonio. His +1 is 1 of 6 on the positive side for the Rampage.

Jay Z leading Houston Aeros in scoring with 13 goals, 12 assists, 25 points in 25 games and is -9.

Beau Bennett leading WBS in scoring with 5 goals, 16 assists, 21 points in 25 games and is -2.

Saw Zucker play last night for the Aeros. Based on one game, he got regular shifts, but looks to be quite aways from being NHL caliber just yet.

Aeros won in OT.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

They have told me to be silent. They have told me that complaints about hate speech are worse than the actual statements themselves. They have said there is a first amendment right to make anti-Semitic statements but there is no similar right to speak out against those who say such hurtful things. That they must protect the evil and not let others challenge it. They have told me that they don't want all DU fans to be seen as anti-Semitic because of one fan making comments. That to speak out would be against the rules.

They are wrong. I will speak out against the anti-Semitic statements. I agree with the NCAA and University of Denver policy - Racist, sexist, profane or intimidating comments aimed at participants, coaches, officials, game administrators or fans is not acceptable. If you are one of those who told me to remain silent in the face of hate speech, if you would protect the evil that spews forth, if your advice is to avoid confrontation ..... I've got two words for you!

Merry Christmas

Geez, I think it's about time that we won a game. Do we have any chance to beat BU? Will we ever see the offense that we saw at the beginning of the season?

These are the questions that hound me. Looking forward to seeing some hockey. It has been way too long.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

DG-on to merrier topics. You gonna be in town for the game on Saturday?
