Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

DG-on to merrier topics. You gonna be in town for the game on Saturday?
Unfortunately not. I will be watching the Gophers live tonight however. Just the football team, though...

BU will be without defenseman, leading playmaker & Freshman Matt Grzelcyk [2g, 10a] this weekend.

Team USA brought him over to Finland & Russia for the tournament but cut him in the final round of cuts. There wasn't time for him to make the travel party out to Denver. Jackie Parker is supposedly not happy about how it all went down.

Too bad we won't see you this weekend.

And that sucks about the BU defenseman with many consonants in his name. I don't blame Parker for being unhappy about it, and I would be uber-unhappy if I were the player.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

World U17 Challenge begins today in Canada and DU recruit Jared Fiegl will be on the ice as well as a skater from Cherry Hills Village, Dominic Turgeon.

Chris Roberts has an overview of Team YSA.
Jared Fiegl is a big power-forward type who likes to get after it physically and can contribute offensively. His work ethic makes him exciting to watch at times.

Okay. Tonight. It's time

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

And Pete Seeger lifted those words from this little book called the Bible. And here I figured you would be old enough to remember when that was written. :p:D:D

I guess the game is sold out tonight. Should be a good one. Gwoz, please send us home happy.

Hope you're right. And that they make lots of noise. And that BU doesn't worry one little bit about the ALTITUDE. Everyone knows the affects of the ALTITUDE are greatly exagerrated. The ALTITUDE should't impact them at all.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Couple of PP goals? Check. Shutting out a team that had gone 125 games without taking the collar? Check. Beating a really good team decisively? Check. Play with intensity and dominate pretty much all night? Check. All in all, I'd say a pretty good start to the second half. Let's keep it up, boys.

Ditto, time to put the petal to the metal. Good start to the 2nd half!!

DU 4 for 8 on the PP tonight and obviously the PK was perfect.

3 Stars
First Star: Juho Olkinuora (Denver)
Second Star: Nick Shore (Denver)
Third Star: David Makowski (Denver)

DU jumps up from 18 to 14 in PWR

IMO it was the 3rd goal, coming off the faceoff :09 after the second goal, that was the real backbreaker.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Juho deserves to start EVERY game at this point as the #1 goalie, until he shows signs of faltering (unlikely). If George does otherwise, he's sacrificing our chances to reach the Tournament. To me it's a no brainer, and if he does otherwise, he's got some "splainin' to do."

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Wasn't that a lot of fun last night?

Just viewed and enjoyed the highlights several times. :)
  • Mayfield's move that landed an elbow square in the face of BU's Rosen--didn't really seem intentional--just looked "scarecrowish" with those really long arms.
  • Makowski's grand jete at about 2:20 mark
  • Zebra taking a pretty good "oopsy"
  • Goal by Nick Shore--super passing
  • Juicy saves by Jussi

du78 DU 4 for 8 on the PP tonight and obviously the PK was perfect.
Three Stars--Jussi and Nick and Larraza (Chambers--Viva's best game as a Pio) or Makowski--2 assists and on ice for the first 4 goals--really glad the migraines are under control.
Gwoz was almost glowing in his postgame interview. But those 2 shorthanded breakaways were not a good thing.

As reported by Old Pio it was Q Shore who was repeatedly mugged, not Nick Shore as reported by some media.

"Jacky" Parker was not a happy camper in his post game interview. It is on Boston Hockey Blog or GoTerriers.
What is with Privitera? Kicking?--Didn't realize it was a DQ.
2 BU Trifecta's--2-5-10 Privitera and MacGregor. Jacky did not rule out additional team imposed penalty.
Rosen and Escobedo had a touch of food poisoning the night before the game.

All and all it was a great night for hockey!

Viva was en fuego, all right. Seemed like he was getting off lasers from the point all night long. I'm wondering if it's the anti-Sampson effect: get a trim, get hot.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

My life is so much better when the Pios win! and how about breaking the BU streak?? In my opinion, Makowski was the best player out there last night! Not including Juicy!!

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Yeah, that was an impressive streak of no shutouts that BU had. Glad Juho was able to break it. I agree that he deserves both starts in the next series.

Loney also had a good game.

It was really hard to tell what the deal was with Mayfield's hit. It looked like it would have been difficult to pull off that move intentionally. A camera angle from the other side would be helpful to clarify what happened on that play.

Good job by the Pioneers last night.
