Ugh, that's terrible. What was the call on the ice? And which Morley? I see that UA_ took 6 penalties for 23 minutes. Did they have a 5 and then a 10 minute misconduct?

Not even two minutes prior to Tyler Morley's hit, Atkinson dumped the puck in at the blue line and Gervais came up to challenge him. Atkinson stuck the butt of his stick into his face mask. The last 3 minutes of the game were hard to watch.

If Morley doesn't get suspended he better have his head on a swivel that's a guarantee. He shoulda got a game DQ. Embarrassing that a couple of your players take cheap shots when the game is over n the refs do nothing. That's how Alaska plays against MSU the past couple years.

If the league does anything, its deserved. To blanket the team though and say "That's how Alaska plays..." is pretty harsh. I hope Jimmy Mullin is okay.

No, the refs missed it. No call on the ice at all. And it was Tyler morley. Bizarre set of circumstances as there is no way 4 refs should miss that happening in the middle of the ice, even if it's away from the puck. UAF played a good, clean, hard checking game up until the last 3 minutes and then frustration boiled over. I think the whole arena was waiting for it to boil over big time after that, but nothing ever happened.

I agree, I don't know how that call was missed. I hope the league does review it as it was caught on video. Mike Hastings was clearly upset after the no call, but I believe there were clear instructions to not retaliate. I'm sure Hastings was more concerned about his team being at full strength tonight. I thought the game was pretty clean until the final 5 minutes.

Yea I wouldnt say UAF has played us "dirty" They have been physical with us which worked for them last year but tough and dirty are very different. I wouldnt even put Morley in the dirty column. Sometimes frustration takes the best of someone in the moment. Most players have been there. I really do hope the WCHA does something, even if its after tonights game even, but something needs to be said and done w/ these type of hits.

I don't think Alaska had been dirty this year or last. Theit style reminds me a lot of the north Dakota style of play. It's right on the edge. They are very aggressive and hit hard. Sometimes when you play that style, you cross over the edge. Not dirty, just a bit too reckless.

Not enough defensive experience and shaky goaltending. Everybody talks about Parayko, but losing Trevor Campbell to graduation was also a big blow. I think we have some talented D guys but they're just green, especially with last year's top pairing gone.

We have the wheels to get going, as evidenced by the Brice games, but we are going to have a tough time with deeper teams, as evidenced by the games against Mankato or St. Cloud.

Based on what I've seen so far I'd peg us as a 4-8 playoff seed in the WCHA and not much more. But I hope I'm wrong.

Stupid move by Morley last night. I understand he's our captain and was probably trying to send a message and get guys fired up for tonight, but pick your battles appropriately.

Several of his mentions also retweeted the vid to the WCHA begging them to do something.

Apparently another of their players were blasted last week at Bemidji. Apparently no call or suspension in that case, so it seems Mr. Shane was a bit of a "Justice Seeker".

Eh, whatever. Chris Dilks was much more level headed in his response. Stupid play either way, though. I'm kind of surprised Atkinson didn't get a game either.

Looking at penalty minutes for the league, Alaska is #1 and UAA is #2. I know that Thomas was not happy about the teams penalty minutes last year and has vowed to clean it up. But this looks bad ... both "Alaska" teams will get a reputation and will get called when other teams may not be. An example was listed earlier and we had an incident last weekend in Alabama where the Charger player didn't even receive a penalty for contact to the head. It should have been a 5. Not good.
