I’ve watched the Nooks play four games and still don’t know what to think. This upcoming series against MSU should provide a much better gauge. MSU is a solid team that’s had a tough early schedule and a rough start.

I think the Nooks have potential but with an inexperienced defense we’re a work in process. We took four penalties in the first period against SCSU, got knocked back on our heels, and never really got anything going. We skated circles around ASU but crapped the bed. We fell behind by two goals to both AIC and RPI, but clearly controlled play and pulled out come back wins.

These games are at MSU and the Mavericks should be feeling more confident. They just won two hard fought one-goal games against a tough BSU. We are still making freshmen type mistakes, but are pretty quick and looking better every game. As usual, goaltending and special teams play will probably be the key to the series. Can’t take any shifts off this weekend and can’t afford to give up unforced turnovers.

Too early in the season for team stats to mean much, but here they are.

The WCHA bloggers believe Parayko was the only reason we went 2-1-1 against MSU last year so have picked MSU to sweep the Nooks with 2-3 goal margins. Might happen. But I don’t think the boys plan on just rolling over and taking what’s coming to them.

BTW, in four games last year against MSU, Payrako had three assists was a plus/minus = zero. T. Morley had six goals.

Pretty much everybody thinks the only reason we won any games last year was because of Parayko.

Tonight's feed from MSU is pretty bad for me. Anybody got a good feed?

I'm watching stretch. We're getting our butts kicked 3-0. But I would like to watch us fall apart with clearer definition. All the other games have pretty decent feeds.

edit: 3-1 now. Nooks scored on the PP.

I watched the Nanook tourney on stretch and it was awful. There was SO much static.

I watched the "on demand" on replay. Not to bad. Volume was low but could be adjusted for. Skill of cameramen still a bit lacking, but not bad overall.

UAA vs UAH was pretty bad. Garbled sound and very low volume, dark, and camera work was not real great. But with a whiskey or two I can watch almost anything.

No penalty called.
I doubt he plays tomorrow if the league reviews the tapes.

Final 5-2 MSU, but it wasn't that close.
Got beat in every phase of the game.
MSU had all the time and space they needed all night.
Even 5x5 looked liked we were on the PK.

Need to do a much better job tomorrow.
And don't plan on Morley being there.

Which Morley? Remember this is the WCHA. A Huntsville player hit a UAA player hard enough in the head (last weekend) that his helmet came flying off. The UAH play by play guy could not believe it wasn't called, and the league did nothing.

Blindside shoulder launching into the face resulting in a bloodied nose and a likely concussion. It was pretty bad.
