Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

So we finally found the common ground between the two of us groups: Omaha and how much they suck.

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

I always find it funny when people complain about the trips up here. Then, if you mention that we do it all the time, they just go on about how the Alaska schools just need to accept that, it's part of the deal, and if you don't like it you shouldn't be on a team up here. True enough, but then they shouldn't whine about having to come up here (once, MAYBE twice a year) either, when they're a fan/involved with a team in a league that has an Alaska school in it. Don't like it, then join a freaking bus league and quit crying

Does Fairbanks pay for all of the CCHA teams travel to Alaska? UAA does not pay for Mankato or UNO, and I think some of the other travel costs have been cut as well. I know we don't pay what we used to.

I believe we cover either 20 or 25 plane tickets for each visit, not positive though. Last I heard Alaska Air gives us one free ticket for every 20 bought, plus a waiver on checked luggage fees. Not exactly a smoking deal but better than nothing. One of the reasons I was hopeful for a move to the WCHA a couple years ago was a possible
better deal on travel.

One big downside to CCHA life is that Michigan schools rule the roost, and I doubt they are ever going to renegotiate the travel deal. I personally think they were happy to let UNO walk so they didn't need to bus it to Omaha anymore, and it was probably part of the reason UAH was denied membership (that and Penn State being imminent).

Well put.

I like it!

This doofus?

Just an FYI ... the Missouri River would be a better option. The Platte is a few miles south of Omaha while the Missouri defines the eastern border of the city ... the Missouri also has a much higher flow rate.

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

Perhaps these two schools should try hiring a goon coach so they can make the NCAA's more than once a decade. :)

It's so cute to see how enamored you are with a 70 year old gap-toother. Did Dave Letterman once make sweet love to you or something and you've transferred that emotionally to this creepy old guy? Come now .. aren't you really a little too young for a man that age? I mean, fantasize all you want I guess but you should recognize that Deano already has grandchildren with which to practice his love.

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

There's no reason to get defensive, I was just trying to help. If you're happy to make the NCAA's once every 10-15 years, more power to you. Strive for those .500 records.

And by "defensive" of course you mean provide an analytically accurate assessment of your ongoing fixation with decrepit old hockey coaches?

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

You're making posters about him and I'm the one with the fixation? I'm sure there are plenty of goon coaches out there. UAA and UA could hire one of them. I only suggested you hire a goon coach, I made no mention of any particular goon coach.

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

Since it seems you're interested in some sort of comparison in relative terms with regard to fixation then I'd suggest you search my body of work regarding the old codger in question. I'm quite sure this is the first time I've referred to him since rejoining the board and any references prior to that would have been in the context of whatever weekly thread was in play at the time. Then I'd suggest you search your posting history (just since old dude quit on UND) ... I think the relative level of fixation will become clear.

Donnie and Hak don’t like other schools to play rough as it hurts the sensitivity of their little draft picks. BTW how’s the new mascot and nickname competition coming along?

The CCHA will be the one in big trouble if the Big Ten comes about like it seems to be. Losing 3 big time schools will really hurt. UAF won't be in trouble in that situation but those Michigan schools that rule the roost will be hurting.

Re: Alaska Airlines Governors Cup UA vs. UAA Feb 25th & Feb 26th

Alaska hockey fans sure are obsessed with UNO.

I guess you have to find something to get excited about when your teams are 23rd and 31st in the PWR rankings.

I hope my post doesn't get deleted by "uaafanblog"(Donald Dunlop)since I didn't say nice things about UAA. You and my three year old have something in common; he plugs his ears when somebody says something he doesn't like, you delete comments on your blog you don't like.

Just out of curiosity, are you that guy who dances around on the stick horse at the UAA games? If you are, I am not surprised you require that all the comments on your blog stroke your ego.

One final thing, it was Nick Von Bokern(not Ryan Walters)that cross-checked your player. You might get a little more credibility if you could at get your facts straight.

BTHC will pretty much kill the CCHA and it will put a big dent in the WCHA. CCHA is heavily slanted to Michigan and Michigan State. uaafanblog made a post a while back basically saying that UAF and UAA would be smart to set aside the unpleasantries and work together to make sure we both have a solid future when the Big 10 happens, and I couldn't agree more. I also wonder if that would be an opportune time for UAF to move into what's left of the WCHA.

FREE SPEECH!!! Oh wait ... it's "my" blog. It's not "America" ... your precious first amendment rights don't apply. What's your first and last name? Oh? You choose not to share it because you're aware that weirdo stalkers will attack you for something you write?

In essence the place is a virtual representation of my living room. I keep the door open and allow anyone to come in and speak. With that consideration in place, would you walk into someone's "open house" with a mask on and offer up some stupid comment? Yeah .. I didn't think so. Do you moan about blogs that moderate comments before even allowing them to hit the page too?

Just out of curiosity, are you that guy who dances around on the stick horse at the UAA games? If you are, I am not surprised you require that all the comments on your blog stroke your ego.
Um no brainbox. I'm not. And my policy regarding comments on the blog has evolved in order to satisfy my primary audience. While they enjoyed me pwning ignorant newbs they convinced me that such exchanges weren't in everyone's continuing best interest.

One final thing, it was Nick Von Bokern(not Ryan Walters)that cross-checked your player. You might get a little more credibility if you could at get your facts straight.
Yeah ... the credibility argument. Effing hilarious. I don't write my blog for anyone but UAA fans. Stay the Eff off of it if you don't like it or can't adhere to the simple standards that are clearly explained before posting your comment.

Now .. run back along to the Mav Forum where you can pat each other on your bumpkin backs. My blog and USCHO (to a lesser extent) are where the big boys come to play. Why you'd bring a wet noodle to a truncheon fight evades me.
