Adrian College Gripefest

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

I would agree with that, do you have any reasons why you think that may be ?

The obvious...coaching had a lot to do with it. I'm sure it was easier to recruit high caliber players to Norwich with an established quality men's program, than to Adrian who was starting hockey from scratch on both genders.

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

Not exactly part of this thread. How much would a head coach get paid at a school like Adrian? And assistants?

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

What's disappointing about this thread is all the name calling and bashing that has gone on. Why can't we all agree that the Adrian players felt like the coach was their problem as to why they didn't progress more and leave it at that? And so next year, when a new coach is hired, let's see how they do and let's see what's what.

It's a shame that someone would come onto this forum and post a personal and private letter that was not addressed to anyone here. The only thing I can say about that is Karma is a *****, my friend. Here's hoping that whatever job you're at, your boss doesn't decide to post on a public forum why he/she feels you are incapable of performing a job.

What I do have an issue with and always will is when a player uses the excuse that a coach made them "lose their passion for the game". If you have passion for something, no one can take that away from you, that's why it's called a passion and not just an intense like for something.

Good luck to the current and future Adrian players. I hope you can band together and become leaders with one another and learn to take ownership for your team and program. The success that program has had in just a few short years has been tremendous and hopefully it will continue for them. And for the good of the program, I hope they will continue to play teams like RIT who demonstrate what a true winner and competitor is about and LEARN from them, rather than try to rip them apart with unfounded comparisons.

I'd say the Adrian men's program has made quite the name for themselves the last two seasons.

Just saying :)

Whew,
well I was agreeing with you until you turned RIT into a goddess hockey team. Yeah, they are extremely talented and know how to win but they are not true winners. theu have absolutely no class at all. True winners have class and show it and have the decency to respect the people they play against not continue to talk trash after being up by 7 goals!
I agree that it should be left at just seeing what happens next year. And yes a coach can kill the passion of the game. Its very simple to do. Example: You take your top players and you play them into the ground, and continue to play them when they get scored on many times in a row. The following practice you skate the rest of the team into the ground except your top players and you make them bag skate because of a poor job performance. Also, when you are on the ice and you are practicing a penalty kill, you stand around for 25 mins and listen to the coaches argue with the men's coaches about what penalty kill is more effective and less tiring. On top of all this you take practice and make it into a complete ****show and make all the girls dread even being on the ice let alone in the rink. When you take the fun out of the game, its hard to be able to have passion for it.
I would really like to thank you for coming out and posting your opinion but you are very much wrong in some of it!

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

the assistant coach makes barely anything like maybe 12- 15,000 a year and the head mayb 20,000 if that!

do they also have "teaching" positions? Like Stauber at UWS taught "hockey class" and "weightlifting" when I was a student there

Uggh !. You did not get the memo did you?. It is one thing to have this opinion, it is another to keep beating a dead horse and airing it on this forum. Crazy.!!!

Yes...she is the one doing the name calling etc and agrees with you that it needs to stop. I feel sorry for her boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/life partner.

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

After viewing this thread for the past few weeks, (which has been very entertaining I must add) I think the problem was the players and their families, not the coach. - my opinion

Quoting Prez, "Just Sayin".

Just gonna ask again how much of this team did you see? To here tell the players tried to talk with the coach for two years then went up the ladder and got no help. When nobody listened they asked for help. Finally it comes down to money the school supported her until it was free for her not to return. Blind loyalty works great just ask the Germans how that worked for them in the 1940's. They just followed with no information too. Just sayin.
