Adrian College Gripefest

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

Did you really just compare the Adrian coaching situation to the Holocaust?? Wow keep this thread going this is great haha.

I actually just wanted to see what coaches went where when I logged on! OMG, Like I said many months ago, its like a bunch of AAA parents. I will say this, at least this coach wasn't afraid to play the best teams in the country. I am not saying she was or wasn't a good coach, but wish her well. Maybe Adrian should find a local coach so they came tap into some of the local talent! The new coach should ban all parents from the games! Just about all players take the summer off, maybe the parents should too. Just say'in!

After viewing this thread for the past few weeks, (which has been very entertaining I must add) I think the problem was the players and their families, not the coach. - my opinion

Quoting Prez, "Just Sayin".

I agree. Although this situation was very much like Nazi Germany.

Well stated !

dogwatcher's posts certainly affirm that the inmates were running the asylum. (especially the WWII Germany reference)
It's become more and more obvious that a very young Coach Lomanto had her hands full with this disfunctional group of parents and players. Hopefully her replacement will get this bunch under control.

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

I would strongly agree that the players were the problem not the coach. Players being upset that the coach didn't listen to their suggestions? It's laughable... And the though that they were not playing the best available competition. They probably played the toughest schedule of any western team the last two years. Rumors I've heard have the assistant coach not being very helpful (to say the least) and somehow keepin her job for three years continues to probe that Lomanto's biggest fault was being too tolerant. Here's hopin that women's ice hockey doesn't lose one of it's brightest young female coaching prospects.

I would say there is mutual fault to be laid on players and coach. Some of her coaching decisions were suspect. Ex: "This weekend they arrived in Castleton at 4 A.M. and she had them on up at 8:30 and on the ice at 10 for a pregame skate when the game was at 6 P.M. why not let them sleep. After the skate they had 1/2 hour to rest then pregame meal at 1:30."

I think she'd definitely benefit from trying to be an assistant somewhere. I can't picture Adrian doing well next year, as they don't have a coach yet and I'm assuming no new recruits??

Maybe 10 was the only time they had available ice?

So the rumor you hear is about as far from the facts as you can get. The assistant coach was not being helpful is not how it went everytime she offered an opinion or sugestion she was shut down. Not sometimes not most times everytime. We have all met the kind of boss that comes in with the a new broom sweeps clean mentality. And most sweep themself out the door quickly. The only reason she made three years was so they did not have to pay her contract out. Have you ever watched this team play? Tell me one thing you have seen them do that would reflect a well coached team. Understanding that they won a lot, look to why they did. It was not because of great team play but because of outstanding individual effort. She has told the players and her assistant this is my team and we will do it my way at every turn. The fact is the team was capable of being better but lacked a plan and the leadership to play against the better teams. I will say she did do a great job with the schedule ( but it is easy to get people to travel to you when you pay for it all). Consider this, your a head coach and you want to travel your team for a weekend you can go to Adrian and get a FREE bus ride a FREE hotel and FREE meals. Helps the budget a little huh.

seaturtle says there will be someone in place tomorrow. Is there a possibility they promote the assisant coach?

And assuming that this coaching change was done well after the season ended, you would have to think most of the recruiting is done by now and the new coach would just have to call and confirm incoming class. Beyond the Dashers only has one player listed, but take that website with a grain of salt regarding D3 commits because not all the schools post recruits on there. There was also a rumor of a wayne state goalie transfering.

Fact there is more then one recruit. It will be interesting to see who the new coach is, the assistant is probably in the running she knows the game. They have graduated some key players in grubbs and kempson. they will need to find some scoring and skating to replace them they still have a great goalkeeper and on defense they still are strong but a little short. Should be ineresting to see how they look this season I think they can still be strong if they can fill some of those gaps.

So much for thinking you have inside information. The assistant is just as clueless as the head coach and drinks with the players. I don't really think that would make a very good head coach.

Re: Adrian College Gripefest

The AC women have a new coach. HE was in the office today for his first day. I hope everyone who was been in here ripping the previous coach will let the new coach coach. There is a lot of talent on this team and I'm looking forward to the upcoming year. Sorry to see the previous coach leave. It will be interesting to see how this one is accepted.

I am sure he will be welcome and things will be fine. I think that the team and fans will support him. As for me I am glad to see a change I think it is a good move for the players and the school. I am looking foward to seeing the team play up to it's ability should be a good year.
