30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#12: Chris Ayotte had wheels, a good shot, and was a good defensive forward while wearing #12. Derrell Levy also wore the #12 and during his time at Oswego he was a fan favorite, he was fast, he was strong, and he was a heavy hitter who gave it his all on the ice and was fun to watch.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#30: Niklas Sundberg (case closed)
#29: Craig Barnett - Before the word "Barney" was about a purple dinosaur
#28: John Wells - Would have made Greg Louganis proud with his diving abilities
#27a: Steve Ashe - The HIT, still have the jersey in the family.
#27b: Shane Ferras - While he wasn't Joey, he could still light it up. 91-98-189 isn't too shabby.
#26: Michel Valliere
#25: Steve Moffat
#24: Dylan Clarke
#23: Eric Seidel
#22: Derrick Shaw
#21: Jason Kilcan
#20: Dan Schaly
#19: Lenny Pereira
#18: Jim Duran
#17: Pier-Luc Belanger (If only he had stayed he would be among all time greats IMO)
#16: Steve Plaskon
#15: Matt Furtado (scored some huge goals for Plattsburgh)
#14: Larry Zinger (Wells, Busby, Dowe, one of the original "small" guys)
#13: Dave Fentress
#12: Eric Weidenbach (if only he could have stayed out of trouble)

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Hmmm, 12......

Scorers were Blake Forkey and Eric Lauriault. Tough call, Blake performed after suffering a serious injury a year it seemed like. Eric was also a prolific scorer and very physical. Jon Bokelman was a force on the ice and lent lots of size to the Aucoin-Nagle line.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Derrell Levy, he gave it everything he had every shift and did everything the coaching staff asked of him, pretty much the ultimate role player.

Pier-Luc Belanger played in last year's play-offs

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#11 - For "Plattsburgh" fans, Jay Perras might score a 1 hit wonder, but Chris Fess gets my vote.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

still an hour and a half till midnight for me.

But for #11 I'd have to choose the fastest player in any division, Neil Musselwhite from Oswego who still holds the fastest skater record

Not to mention he had a short handed hat trick

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#11 Pierre Brunet ('79-82) for the Cardinals. Although Fess was a fine player, Brunet was one of the most solid players ever to wear the red and white. In 3 years the smallish Frenchman had 174 points including a 90 point season in '81-82. Two NCAA Finals, all-time shorthanded goal leader. He also scored huge goals and scored them against the top teams. Great skater who could've been on most DI teams top two lines except for size.

Fess was a great leader and also excelled shorthanded. Developed in to a quality scorer as well and won an NCAA title.

#11: Neil Musselwhite could flat out fly, and score goals in bunches, be it on the power play or penalty kill. The same can be said for Ian Boots, the hero of White Out 2010-11, who also sported the number 11.

I considered Brunet, especially in light of the fact that it took Fess 17 more games to get 4 more career points and that Brunet had an amazing low 44 PIM in 104 GP (to Fess's 88 in 121), but decided 3 years trumped 4.

I do not want to steal this thread but I was not aware of a fastest skater record!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-at-frozen-four-skills-competition-in-detroit

he set the record and they haven't done the skills challenge since

Cool! Thanks for the information. The skills competition should be brought back as it allows for some possible individuals who are not well known to help their careers aka Kyle Jones, the outstanding goalie of SNC who stoned the shooters in the shooting competition.:)

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Hmm, Norwich 11. a tough one. Three forwards and two D-men stand out.......

Ok, split them up....

Forwards: Aaron Phelan - A western Canadian that transition from Bolding, then Liska and Rowan, the Phelan to the 2000 championships. Captain as a senior when he might not have made it back from injury. Scored a hat trick in his final game as a cadet. Rick Cleaver, another prolific scorer with a sniper's touch. Ed Boudreau, added size and skill.

Dmen: Rob Jackson, physicality and strong play, plus attitude on and off the ice. Greg Eskedjian, smaller d-guy, but had a knack for being in the right place and doing the right thing. Good offensve defensemen.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Jocelyn Dubord, he could do it all, he could hit, he could score with 147 points to show for his efforts and he was an excellent captain that helped a very young 05-06 team to an 18 win season.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

While Paul Rodrigues was the most dynamic player I have seen at Oswego in a while and Brian DeFeo was the star scorer when I first started going, I have to go with unheralded john Hirliman as my favorite number 14. He had 92 career points, 48 of them goals and Captained the Lakers to the 2003 SUNYAC championship and the NCAA title game. When he left the Saturday game of the 03 final on crutches I didn't think we would see him on SUNDAY but he played and scored the empty net clincher. He was the best on ice leader I have seen from the Lakers in my time which gives him the edge over the other two.

I see I'm a day or so late, again............. you have to give big props for another Oldtimehockey guy. Pierre Belanger #14 of the original Lakers. He was the Gordie Howe type = Goal Assist and fight. Still amongst the leaders in Oswego State scoring. You can't find alot of stats that go back to his day. But you'll find post Oswego he played for the Johnstown Jets and Manchester Monarchs. In 71 he had 39 G and 48 A for the Monarch's. He later was a referee in the World Hockey League. Also an Original memeber of the Oswego State Hockey Hall of Fame too. Can't forget the old guy's now.
