30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Tough number for Plattsburgh, Brian Toussaint put up some good numbers while a member of team full of strong players, from my early years at Plattsburgh, there was Steve Bester.

#14 - I guess I should go with Nick Jensen, who is such an important part of the Cardinals' success the last three years. I almost went all Anthony Leccesse on you guys, but I think that might have caused a physical confrontation :-D

Certainly on the contemporary front

Hmmm, tough choice here......

Pier-Olivier Cotnoir or Jimmy Nagle............

Both very good players, although Pier has size Jim never did. Both prolific scorers(edge Cotnoir) and assist makers(edge Nagle). Too close for me to call.

On this side of the mountain, Nagle and Bellemare did far more damage then P-O, Kurtis, or Keith over their 4 years. Both amazing playmakers...Nagle scored a pretty goal to win the 1999 Primelink first round and then came to Kenyon 2 months later to top Midd, 4-3 in OT (Nagle and Bellemare tallied 4 pts....Marc had the gamewinner on OT). The official attendance was 2405 (legal limit) but anyone who was there knows there was well over 3000 in the place.

I guess it's current #14 Nick Jensen for Plattsburgh. Toussaint and Bester were good players, but Jensen can be a real force at times. I think he's going to have a huge senior year on defense. The team turned it on when the move was made to make him an offensive defenseman. Big time coaching move.

is Jensen staying back on D this yr??

That's the plan. I just think they looked like a completely different team with him back there. Jensen, Roytman, Beadow, Kaye, Botting look like locks. Two new guys, Patterson and Hermans will push for time.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

While Paul Rodrigues was the most dynamic player I have seen at Oswego in a while and Brian DeFeo was the star scorer when I first started going, I have to go with unheralded john Hirliman as my favorite number 14. He had 92 career points, 48 of them goals and Captained the Lakers to the 2003 SUNYAC championship and the NCAA title game. When he left the Saturday game of the 03 final on crutches I didn't think we would see him on SUNDAY but he played and scored the empty net clincher. He was the best on ice leader I have seen from the Lakers in my time which gives him the edge over the other two.

Add Kevin Flynn, Mike Snell, Art Federow, Tom McFall, Paul Mueller, Mike Lukajic, Joe Carrabs and Greg Preston and there's your ring !

Got to correct here....... Lukie was #16 I believe. And he is head and shoulders above the other 16"s listed. Sorry to those who were honored..........

Not many Occultists among the Cardinals. but Dave Fentress braved the #13  -- perhaps a Freemason ;)

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Dave Fentress played parts of 3 years with the Cardinals. He had plenty of talent but for one reason or another , never panned out. He transferred from Oswego after playing for the Lakers in the '86-87 NCAA Finals. Very tough number, probably for all teams.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Albert Mitchell for EC. Scrappy little guy who was a thorn in everyone's side. Lots of speed, a real "play maker"

he was a bit wacky for sure, nice guy though

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#13, lucky 13 was worn by Tony DiNunzio, a power forward with a nose for the net. Also Jared Anderson, the defensive defenseman sported the number 13, and then RJay Berra took over #13 his last year at Oswego, and that was the year he scored his first goal.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

DiNunzio for sure, he was an agitator that could score.

Fenny tried to bartend by day and play hockey at night !! I don't think that would work today. You're right though, nice guy. Good sense of humor. I don't think Emery thought so. It was his first year as coach and those types didn't stick around long.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#12 - A good one for the Cardinals. Dave Doucette played from 1986-89 as a gifted offensive defenseman. In 99 games he scored 125 points !! He was also one of the central figures in the NCAA investigation of the late '80's which eventually stripped Plattsburgh of their '87 NCAA title. He was a quiet, funny guy who played forever in various minor leagues. Next would be Eric Satim '07-11 who was an extremely talented forward in recent times. Another good one was Eric Weidenbach ('97-01) who tallied 128 points in 97 games.
