2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

I would think it is Shapiro. If he can get PA then it is a clear no-brainer. I do think that Whitmer can easily go and the Michigan Dems would be just fine. Nessel, Benson, Gilchrist, and now Buttigieg should keep the state level offices on lock down for the next two election cycles.

edit: I was so worried about spelling Buttigieg right I messed up Nessel. :p

lol, just saw this on the socials:

“Harris' campaign has requested vetting materials from potential VPs, including ... Whitmer (MI), ... + Pritzker (IL),

Ugh, no please.

Whitmer would be great, but i can't see a two woman ticket winning because of the misogyny in the US. I'm also selfish and want her to finish her term in Michigan. It *just flipped all blue in 2022, and I don't want to see it go back so quickly.

Pritzker, IMO, has skeletons in his closet that could potentially torpedo any aspirations after being VP. The sprint to November from here is beneficial politicslly (and physically), but absolutely makes him more scrutinized later. He's the heir to the Hyatt hotel chain as well. He already flew too close to the sun politically when his tax reduction stunt was found out. Apparently when you're rich, it's frowned upon by the commoners to yank all your toilets out of your house when it's being renovated so you get a tax break from the county for having an inhabitable home.

I think she will pick Cooper. It sounds like they have had a good relationship over a long period of time and she trusts him.

Also I don't know what someone from IL gets you. Granted I'm not from the Midwest, but I always got the impression other midwesterners don't consider it as midwestern.

It doesn't get you anything, if anything it might be slightly negative with the derps derping about Chicago.

Pritzker is a waste. Keep Illinois politics away from this...

I like Walz, a lot, but geez I'm not sure what the point is.

This is gonna be fun :)

Whitmer has said multiple times she is sticking out the rest of her term in Michigan. Though I guess the last two weeks have shown definitive statements don’t carry much weight.

I would go with Kelly. Swing state, his senate seat gets replaced by a D and is safe until 2028, pro 2A while also being pro gun control, and who doesn’t love an astronaut? Only con is his swing state is AZ and not midwest.

Exactly, Walz needs to stay for MN, Whitmer needs to stay for MI, Evers is a non-starter.

That narrows the list with the best bets being Shapiro and Kelly. Shapiro instantly kneecaps Trump from thinking PA is a gimme and locks that up for Harris. Kelly gets you a solid blue replacement for two more years.

Both have an active military background negating Vance using the Marine Corps to prop up Trump. Kelly has the added benefits of being an astronaut (way more selective than even the Navy Seals) and married to a former senator who had an assassination attempted on her, negating even more Trump talking points.

Outside of Governors, theres Mayor Pete who has already dismantled JD Vance. But is the nation willing to be *that* progressive?

Guys like Prtizker and Walz are there to round out the candidates. They're not likely, but you interview them anyways given the short timeframe.

Sure. Just like Lou Holtz was going to finish out his contract in Minnesota.

28k volunteers signed up to work for her. A zoom call for WinEithBlackWomen last night had 40k people on the call and raised a million dollars. Tonight WinEithBlackMen has 20k men on the call and have raised half a million bucks!

Edit: it's over a million now!

Whitmer would have not joined the campaign if she wanted the job. She isn't Dick Cheney ;) Things can change obviously.

You are right about Pritzker and Walz...I won't lie though the idea Peggy Flanigan as Governor is pretty awesome. A native Governor of Minnesota would be sweet!

So far the only people complaining about how this is shaking out are Russian bots on Twitter and Drew.

Everyone suddenly seems excited again

A Trump ally forgot to log out of his main Twitter account when he pretended to be a Black Woman who wouldn't vote for Kamala. These guys are so dumb...

mookie would like to see that attack dog Pete as sec state. Get in there and move Middle East to clamp down on hamas, et.al. Chew on he chinks. Nip at putie. Etc.
then run
is he however tight with harris enough that she’ll ask him? Was he a Biden pick for the cabinet, or did Harris pull him in?

It shot adrenaline into the campaign. No drama makes it even better!

I'll admit I had a sickening feeling when I read the letter from Biden. But seeing the groundswell of support around Harris has me excited. It's young blood in the game.
