2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Even WSJ says we're in for a bloodbath, with simultaneous spikes in inflation, massive job losses, and apocalyptic deficits.

Meanwhile, the companies that bribe the administration will get preferential treatment while their rivals are punished, bond yields will launch into the stratosphere, I'll get richer and buy offshore, and then we'll move to our new Portuguese property and enjoy our spiking I18N returns while the Heartland burns out like Somalia.

This is gonna be so great. :-)

Portugal is an excellent choice right now. I'm jealous.

The only upside I see for me is that I kept a few hundred k liquid from home sale to do t-bill ladders. Like 1.2,3 month increments nearing 5%. If those rates shoot up, I’ll just keep doing that - esp since it’s unlikely I’ll be able to get a job ever again now with this moron elected

You won’t be able to get a job?

I’ll have to start giving out honks again.

Here are two for you…

Honk, Honk

WSJ desperately trying to talk some sense into the idiots? I mean, they reap what they have sown.

TBF, given how precarious the Chinese and European economies seem to be it really does seem like this whole thing could teeter off the cliff.

69,498,516 - Obama // 59,948,323 - McCain
65,915,795 - Obama // 60,933,504 - Romney
65,853,514 - Clinton // 62,984,828 - Trump
81,283,501 - Biden // 74,216,747 - Trump
66,415,077 - 71,749,915 - Harris // 75,052,726 Trump
Oh no, she's catching up.

Not as dramatic of a drop.

So, the GOP seem to be getting ahead of your question early. Right leaning legal experts have been pouring over the 22nd ammendment and there aren't any specific "enforcement" they can find. States aren't barred from putting him on the ballot for a third time, and the ammendment leaves some wiggle room.

There is no enforcement. He's just not president anymore and the new president is sworn in.

If Trump is still in the White House at that time he can be arrested by the local cops all the way up through a drone strike from the new president with total immunity.

there is no enforcement beyond simple trespassing.

You and I are in agreement with that. But there's legal back doors that were never secured. The language says "elected," and not even the 12th amendment clarifies that language, just leaving a hanging "But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

The argument being that it's up to congress to declare eligibility. Which I'm sure they'd run straight up to SCOTUS for a ruling in their favor.

If not, they could run a Vance/Trump ticket.

And with a house in their favor, they just get a hung jury for electoral votes, and get the VP to declare Trump President via the house.

Bingo-bango-he wasnt elected by the public, but he's the President again.
So just repeal the 22nd Amendment and have the Democrats draft Obama to run again.

I'm just praying this somehow avoids affecting me. Not sure how at this point, but I need to be hopeful.

Kristi Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security.

Forget camps, she's gonna personally drag illegals to the nearest gravel pit.

Those Dump head-to-head leads over Biden of the last 6 months seem to be eroding down to zero, if not outright reversing.

bahahahahahahahahahahahah

Biden was getting smoke so bad the entire time, the entire time. Their internal polling had him losing 400 EC votes.

Trump smoked him out of the race. And then smoke Kamala. A nice twofer.

Twits

Based on the 21st Amendment, it'll never happen that way. 38 states have to approve it. Even right now we could find 13 that'll say nah, 2 is enough. If they do it, it'll be just "lighting that goddamned piece of paper on fire", not actually using the process.

Trump Jr. did say that Cabinet nominations will be people that are not smarter than Trump. Wonder what the nominees think of that statement.

or maybe they are too dumb to realize…

I mean, if the Dump wants to have a third term why would the Repubs be against it?

They wouldn't be. But they'll only have full state control of 27 state legislatures next year.
That means convincing 11 other state legislatures to overturn the 22nd in less than four years so Trump can stay if they're going to use the Constitution. That's why they'll go Jan. 6 on steroids before that.
What I’m trying to say is: Give the Republicans what they want. Repeal the 22nd Amendment. Then have Obama run again.

And tell the whole world upfront “if you repeal the 22nd then Barack Obama will run for President in 2028.”
