2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Within the last hour, Chump laid the groundwork for ducking the ABC debate. Whined they were "unfair" in their interview with Tom Cotton this morning, then JAQed off to imply the debate will be biased and Harris will get the questions in advance.

I said yesterday he would back out...he is terrified.

Jonathan Karl caved to practically every whim of Cotton. Cotton is not normal. Weird.

She has to win now, and it has to be a nice wide margin if possible. Courts are going to be on his side, and he is going to say it was stolen regardless. And the DOJ has failed generating any sort of check against him.

I don't think any court, even the SC will side with him but we will find out either way.

They already have beyond anything I could imagine. I think they will. I think the right thinks that the election system is broken and they want to fix it by lying about it and destroying it.

They've wanted a tyranny-by-minority government for years. What did people think "strict construction" and "constitutional originalism" meant? The Project 2025 crew's wet dream would be going back to 18th century rules and norms, when only white, landowning, Christian men were full American citizens and had the franchise.

It's not gonna be the courts. it's going to be to gum up the certification until after the deadline, and then throw it to a vote of the states' congressional delegations, where each gets one vote. Where Repubs outnumber the Dems like 30-21.

What he tried to get Pence to do on Jan 6, but this time they're gonna be doing it at the state level.

Dump said he has no problem leaving the Mike's on during the next debate. He thinks Kamala is trying to get out of the debates. She's scared of him apparently.

Entire right spends all fucking day of every day delusional and then Bill Maher placates that behavior every week. I wish we could get another prime time, Rated R, political commentary show other than Maher cause he sucks so hard right now it's difficult to watch.

Do you guys think Trump is going to dump Vance and put RFK Jr on the ticket? Or that he wants to do that? I saw some commentary about that on Twitter/X. I'm thinking they probably aren't allowed to do so at this point but that never really stopped him before.

And again that only works if Harris doesn't cross the threshold without a Red State like GA. If she wins the Blue Wall or adds Arizona gumming up the works won't throw it anywhere. They can stall but that is about it. Plus Trump won't control the Veep at that point.

And the new Congress will be seated the day before Electoral Count Day.

Do I think his people want to...yes. Do I think they will...not likely. Even putting aside that lawsuits would follow in at least 3 states (which could go either way) dumping Vance shows weakness and bad judgement at picking runningmates. RFK brings nothing to the table and letting him do campaign events would be a disaster. Vance can stay on message, RFK can't. JD can give interviews that you can hear, RFK can't.

You keep the decompiler robot...you don't bring The Brain Worm who is ducking allegations he forced himself on his babysitter. You already have all his votes.

They're no longer able to do that without blatantly partisan legislation to change the laws in states where the deadline has passed. They definitely would like a mulligan on Vance, he's given them none of the bump they were hoping for in Michissippi and Pennsyltucky, but they're stuck with him now. If they could replace him, it would not be with RFK Jr. They need a MAGA version of Walz to try and right the ship, and they don't have one.

It's not just red states. If enough red precincts in blue states refuse to certify their vote, you can't get a final vote tally. And so the state boards can't certify. And off you go.

Well 'Bama and Ohio would look the other way but I doubt Michigan would. I have to think Pennsylvania would be a problematic too as early voting starts like right after the debate.

Except that the elections board in those states can just override them and certify anyway. Isn’t that what happened in Michigan in 2020?
