2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Jesus christ if you can't enjoy the momentum even in the moment then what is the phucking point? You got what you wanted and you still have to rain on everyone's parade. Is there anything that let's you experience joy even for a minute?

No one is guaranteeing anything, and plenty of us are still angry that we had to pizz on a good man to get here, but we did it, and it's working and instead of letting us just enjoy the phucking moment people like you just have to tell us that it might not be good enough. We get it, we know how the game is played. You aren't some oracle explaining the universe to us you are just someone who has so much fear they can't allow anyone to not fear along with them.

You think by constantly being negative you are protecting yourself from disappointment. I get it I'm a Vikings fan. But for phucks sake dude I am not going to roll my eyes after every win just because something bad might happen next game. You take the win and move on to the next one.

This could all go sideways in November but it hasn't yet so how about we take the good news as it comes. This has been one of the craziest months in American Political History and people are engaged and excited at levels unseen in 16 years. It's ok to be happy about that while also fighting for more.

Go eff yourself handy. You don't know me. I'm actually a pretty happy guy for the most part. Sometimes life sucks, sometimes life is fun, and usually I make lemonade with lemons. But you were one of the MOST egregious people on here I am talking about. Including attacks on me for even having the nerve to suggest Biden had stumbled and we would lose with him at the top. Your posting since HAS been over the top and I was right to want a change in the ticket, as has apparently been proven by all the good news I am crapping on. And if you bothered to read the actual words I posted, I actually said we were ALL HAPPY (I am included in ALL if you understand how to read) with what we are seeing.

I swear to God you seem to scour this forum and wait for a post from me to try to rip apart. Talk about someone not just enjoying the moment. And for the record, I am thrilled with what I have seen from Harris so far, and from Walz too. But I have also been in middle of this stuff for a long time and know how much work it takes to keep momentum going. I am actually doing that work. My guess is you are looking at polls and posting here. How many people have you registered to vote so far in 2024? How many people did you register to vote last year? How many calls did you make to get people to the polls to support our progressive causes? How many doors did you knock on? If you don't think I am joyful and optimistic in my work and life, come join me for a day. I would not do the work I do (and I am doing it 7 days a week right now) if I didn't find it to be joyful and fun a lot of the time. But thanks for your concern.

That won't help him much in the Blue Wall States...

Sure it will. You forget 2020 already?

In the heart of Honolulu Blue to boot.

Trump's whole motive is to just tie it up in the courts. Send it high enough and his handpicked judges will rule in his favor.

He doesn't give a shit about balls and strikes when he can ask the replay crew if the runner "forgot" to touch third base on their way home.

No **** Sherlock.

Blue Wall states aren't going to be the problem.

Well no offense but I don't much care about Georgia or any Red States so feel free to check your attitude at the door. Arizona + Blue Wall = Suck It Donny.

If a bunch of Red States want to not certify it only matters if It stops Harris from crossing the threshold...which it won't. (By my understanding of how it works which could be wrong)

What are we calling The Blue Wall? To me, it's WI-MI-PA: the states that were supposed to hold for Hillary which didn't.

Dr. Mrs. and I were talking this morning about why Harris seems not to have fallen into all the traps Hillary did. Part of it of course is that the RWNM had 20+ years to frame Hillary. Part of it is Hillary had Opposite Charisma: she was so markedly repellent she even made the skin crawl of many of us who supported her on every policy.

But I think the Dems are refusing to engage with the Fasc's Us vs Them rhetoric. We aren't going out there are talking about baskets of deplorables. We are specifically talking about Fasc candidates when we point out they're weird. To everybody else, we're offering a welcome. But it's not Obama's disingenuous "there are no red states and blue states, there are only united states." They aren't trying to elide the real differences. They are saying, "yes, there are differences, and we will work them out at the ballot box," but that's where it ends. You aren't evil if you oppose them. You're a neighbor even if we disagree.

Think of how little they have dwelled on the twin mainstays of the last 50 years of Liberal politics and academia: misogyny and racism. They aren't hammering that home 24/7 the way we always have. They don't have to. Dump and the GOP party embody it; we only need to stand back and the implication is, "see?" And Kamala doesn't have to preach inclusion because she embodies it.

This is the next stage in a multi-cult society: these are people who have simply accepted The Fact Of our diversity, and are now getting on with policy. And because of that they don't have to stand there screaming and vilifying. They're Over It -- they're taking it as a starting point and working for everybody.

Whereas for fifty years the corporate-captive Dems screamed about diversity while doing nothing about underlying economic causes of poverty, this new bunch is taking our diversity as a strength as obvious, and attacking the actual problems. It's a good thing the Donor Class hasn't figured out they are about to be in serious trouble.

I think you're right about who they're calling weird. It's directed at the candidates. Far less messy to label candidates than voters.

Sorry Handy, I’m with ND on this one.

Don't apologize to me, you can feel how you like. Just seems like a waste to sit around miserable when things are brighter. Things won't always feel this way so I would rather enjoy the good until the bad shows up. YMMV. :)

Biden always kind of embodied that. I am President to everyone not just the ones who like me.

That is how Tim Walz has always governed too. Remember during COVID he told the people to get the shot so they can vote him out. He didn't shame their beliefs just wanted them safe.

I get it. But there’s only one win that matters. And that’s November. So quite frankly, I’m also of the ilk there is no other “win” in the interim.

I didnt say we "won" I'm just saying right now we are "winning". Plenty of game still left :)

Though the fact that Trump is trying to convince people the crowd is AI at the rallies is very delicious
