2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

You guys were all right about Walz. He is amaze balls.

I think the reason why is that he's not a character in the sense that he is just a guy who got angry about politics and wanted to help people.

Even excluding conservatives, the vast, vast majority of politicians think helping people is a convenient side effect. For Walz it's what drives him.

Make that three people who think it's D+7, kep. That's got to be it.

I can’t remember where I read that. Might have been the book Ratf*cked.
Anyways, I don’t think we’ll get to 7.5%. The same people who would have let fascism win if Biden stayed the nominee, and therefore definitely didn’t respond to surveys, are likely the ones responding now. It’s going to be close. Kamala might lead us to a narrow win instead of a narrow Biden loss, a la 2016 turnout. I just want us to win the White House. Anything more is gravy for me.

Harris is adding people to the register so the calculus is different.

BREAKING:
Trump's campaign says some of its internal communications have been hacked.

The acknowledgment came after POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account with documents from inside Trump's operation.

The campaign blamed "foreign sources hostile to the United States." https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/10/trump-campaign-hack-00173503/

Not so funny when it happens to you Donny!

The level of cope he and his followers have is delicious!

But you go on believing it mookie just like you did in 2020. :p;)

I think people need to hunker down and realize this is still going to be a knock down, no holds barred, barroom brawl. Polling is super flawed, and while I'd rather seem my candidate up in the polls than down, trump outperformed his poll numbers in a lot of states in both 2016 and 2020.

Look at the 2020 Wisconsin polls done late in the race then. Almost all showed an easy win for Biden, and had trump and the republicans been slightly more effective at preventing people from voting, he wins Wisconsin.

I find it almost laughable how in the weeks and literally days before Biden made one of the best decisions of his presidency in deciding to step aside, almost universally on this space the notion was if he was forced out, the election would be handed to trump. While we are all happy with almost all of the metrics (fund-raising, polling, intangibles like the enthusiasm factor, anticipated further bumps following the convention) 3 weeks ago people wanted to ride it out with Biden. Now it seems some are talking about the possibility of a blue wave.

This is a long way of saying "do NOT count chickens before they are hatched." Keep working, keep talking to your family. Plan to do something to turn your vote into more than one by ensuring someone else votes who might not have. We've been given a second chance. Do whatever you can to make it pay off.

I think we're closer to 4.5-5%, PA has had a 10% swing since Biden dropped. She's up by five in the latest poll I saw.

Jesus christ if you can't enjoy the momentum even in the moment then what is the phucking point? You got what you wanted and you still have to rain on everyone's parade. Is there anything that let's you experience joy even for a minute?

No one is guaranteeing anything, and plenty of us are still angry that we had to pizz on a good man to get here, but we did it, and it's working and instead of letting us just enjoy the phucking moment people like you just have to tell us that it might not be good enough. We get it, we know how the game is played. You aren't some oracle explaining the universe to us you are just someone who has so much fear they can't allow anyone to not fear along with them.

You think by constantly being negative you are protecting yourself from disappointment. I get it I'm a Vikings fan. But for phucks sake dude I am not going to roll my eyes after every win just because something bad might happen next game. You take the win and move on to the next one.

This could all go sideways in November but it hasn't yet so how about we take the good news as it comes. This has been one of the craziest months in American Political History and people are engaged and excited at levels unseen in 16 years. It's ok to be happy about that while also fighting for more.

As of now she has basically stolen all of the "Double Haters" which is why the polls have shifted so dramatically. The exact argument people used against Biden, which so far has been proven correct. Trump is a known commodity they dislike, they needed someone to support. RFK had some of it and he lost almost all of it and she took it. And a lot of the polling doesn't reflect the new registered voters either.

Harris, so far, has made Trump look feeble, old and racist. She is doing what Biden couldn't, running a positive campaign and taking it right to him which is making her numbers go up. She has taken her honeymoon period and run it almost perfect. She hasn't even had a convention yet. It's pretty shocking.

Something will kill momentum sooner or later but it is going to be tough for Trump to win people back. His best path to victory was Dems staying home and his people knew it. Now it appears their strategy is to campaign little (and stealing the money) and hope the courts save them.

Oh along with the media, which is definitely doing their part for him. When was the last time we heard about the $10 million from Egypt?
