Question is, is it landing? I'm not sure the Dems can really say very much more than they are. You can't come out and say "these people are rock stupid," because the very first rule of democracy is you have to pretend that "the simple people" are smart, and not squalid imbeciles. So instead you have to say "these leaders are evil and have misled their poor followers," and that's smug and patronizing. The Dumpies have not been misled. They have agency. They understand exactly what Dump means. They didn't just choose it, they chose it joyfully, because they are craven and toxic. When you kick open the rotted tree of the bottom class the bugs that crawl out aren't victims, they're wholly committed to their bugness.
Until somebody actually says, "it's not the leaders, it's the supporters, and we just have to out work and out vote them and then keep them from clawing out our eyes until they choke in the mess of their own self-inflicted corruption," we will not be facing the problem. It's not Dump or the GQP. It's the stupidest people in the country are trying to kill the rest of us because they, absolutely correctly, realize they are incapable of competing in a world of human flourishing. Their only salvation is reducing everyone to their level of ignorance, hatred, fear, and misery.
This is the true "class" war, where the two sides are those with and those without. It's the humans vs the beasts.
