The road to hell is paved with good intentions...those states barring him from being on the Primary Ballot accomplishes nada. Zilch. Zero. Oh sure it gives our side a tingle down our leg, but what did it do? Can he still run for the nomination in 48 states? (most of which he will win) Yes. Can he still run as the nominee or 3rd party in all 50 states? Yes. Man I know I feel safer already...

All of this crap is as worthless as TSA. And if things go sideways come November they won't let a Dem be on the ballot ever. But hey, made for some cool headlines!

The fact that all of this is pretty much true illustrates how much we lie to ourselves about being a nation of laws. We're not a nation of laws. We're a nation of have and have nots.

The Senate could have taken care of it but they decided the Courts (where everything is now) needed to decide.

Q: “You had argued, after voting to acquit the former president that presidents are not immune from prosecution is that still your view?”
McConnell: “I choose not to get involved...and comment about any of the people running for the Republican nomination.”

Apparently they knew the whole time that they were protecting the sonofabitch.

It's what they always do. "This is not the appropriate forum to be deciding such matters. It really should be up to......."

When it gets to ..........., they whine and cry that that's not the appropriate place to decide, and it should have been handled at the first.

Look at whenever there's a mass shooting "Now is not the time to talk about such things." When you try to bring it up later, they just ignore it, or won't even talk about it. Look at abortion. "Should be left to the states" When states codify abortion rights, then they take it to whatever arena they can to get that decision overturned.

You can't impeach Donnie. It should be left to the criminal justice system and the courts. You can't try Donnie in the courts, because he was impeached, but found innocent. You can't try Donnie while he's president, he has immunity. Wait, you want to try him now that he's not president? Why didn't you impeach him? And anyway, he still has immunity, cause he was president when he did it.

Going to a symposium (networking event) tomorrow for work, and get to hear a bunch of Republicans talk. DeSantis, Haley, and Hutchinson will all be there, plus a bunch of Iowa elected officials. No Trump or Ramaswamy, thank God. Only Dem on the card will be Vilsack, the US Secretary of Ag.

Really need to practice my poker face tonight, cause pretty sure tomorrow is going to be a shit show.

Vivek had to do his meet and greet on an Ipad because of the snow. It was a sparse group anyways ;^)

Saw where he's recently trumpeted that he's conducted more events in IA than any other GQP candidate combined. No comment on how many people showed up at each one, unsurprisingly. ;-)

Did he ever get above 1%?

He's still well above 1%. By that I mean he's at 3 or 4% I don't think he would have made any of the "debates" if he was polling below 1%. I think he's around 15% in New Hampshire. Sununu seems to think if he drops out of race and endorses Haley, she has a shot at winning in New Hampshire and maybe that derails the trump train. Not gonna happen. Only trump's death derails the trump train. And even that may not do it...

Haley is actually worse than DeSantis. Watching her flail around whenever she is checked in real time is painful. Plus now that Trump is going birther on her she is all but done. If she finishes third in Iowa she might as well quit.

Jesus christ, DeSantis is just a slightly more coherent rambler than Trump. He has stock lines but doesn't allow time for them to sink in or get the audience reaction before he moves on. Not sure if it's nerves or what, but how the hell did he get elected in Florida? He's not good.

Buzz words and non-analysis of what is actually said.

And state-wide, FL is a super unique animal given the demographics that need to be catered to in order to have a majority there. Almost nothing that plays there will work on a national stage.

Haley is better than DeSantis, which is damming with faint praise, I know. She at least sounds like she has some brain cells in her head. She's also getting applause during her speech that DeSantis didn't.

But God are all their talking points just antithetical to good governance. Cut the debt by cutting taxes! Cut regulations but secure the border and our kids. Etc.

They always say what, they never explain how.
