2024 Bracketology - The Road to Connecticut

I may be incorrect, but isn't Scholastica still the projected MIAC leader at this point by points percentage? From what I saw Bethel has 24 of a possible 36 points (.667), while CSS has 22 of a possible 30 (.733). Those totals could be wrong though.

You're very correct, I missed that. This is the correct version (500 mile rule still broken):

CCC: Curry (9)
MASCAC: Plymouth State (7)
MIAC: St. Scholastica (12)
NEHC: Hobart (1)
NCHA: Adrian (3)
NESCAC: Trinity (2)
SUNYAC: Geneseo (8)
UCHC: Utica (5)
WIAC: Stevens Point (13)

At-Large:

Elmira (4)
Trine (6)
Hamilton (10)
Plattsburgh (11)

Round 1:

Plattsburgh @ Trinity
Hamilton @ Utica
Stevens Point @ St. Scholastica
Curry @ Plymouth State
Geneseo @ Elmira

QF:
QF1: Curry/Plymouth State @ Hobart
QF2: Hamilton/Utica @ Plattsburgh/Trinity
QF3: Geneseo/Elmira @ Adrian
QF4: Stevens Point/St. Scholastica @ Trine

Its amazing with all the talent in the state theres only 1 d3 school for hockey. I get there isnt many d3 schools on michigan but I think we would all love to see some more west teams out in michigan ohio indiana and illinois

Well, they did have Finlandia, but unfortunately the school doesn't exist anymore.

Yeah, I think there only 7 Division 3 schools in Michigan. The real travesty is the fact that there are 11 Division 1 men's programs in MI, OH and IN but only 1 Division 1 women's team. (and they are rated #1 in the country and have played in the last two national championships)

It’s an absolute crime Michigan doesn’t have a varsity women’s hockey team. I know there was some issues while Red was the coach.

Isn't the Pairwise usually more stable by now? Plattsburgh jumped from #11 to #8 last night without playing. I get bumping up or down a spot on a given night, but that seems to be a sizeable jump for a night off.

In a normal year, I'd say yes, but besides Hobart at 1, there's a lot of parity in the Top 10-15 that we don't really see often.

Bracketology through games on February 3rd:

CCC: Curry (7)
MASCAC: Plymouth State (11)
MIAC: Augsburg (29)
NCHA: Adrian (3)
NEHC: Hobart (1)
NESCAC: Trinity (2)
SUNYAC: Geneseo (6)
UCHC: Utica (5)
WIAC: Stevens Point (T-9)

At-Large:

Elmira (4)
Plattsburgh (8)
Bethel (T-9)
Norwich (12)

First Four Out:

Stevenson (13)
St. Norbert (14)
Hamilton (15)
Bowdoin (16)

Now with a 9/4 Split, there's 2 ways you can play this - adhering to the 500-mile rule, which means NY teams are playing Adrian, or you break the 500-mile rule, and the 4 teams in the West play each other for 1 spot in the Frozen Four. I've included both scenarios here:

Version 1 (500-mile rule intact)

First Round:

Augsburg @ Bethel
Geneseo @ Elmira
Norwich @ Trinity
Plymouth State @ Utica
Plattsburgh @ Curry

Quarterfinals:

Plattsburgh/Curry @ Hobart
Plymouth State/Utica @ Norwich/Trinity
Geneseo/Elmira @ Adrian
Augsburg/Bethel @ Stevens Point

Version 2 (No 500-mile rule, keep West intact)

First Round:
Augsburg @ Adrian
Bethel @ Stevens Point
Norwich @ Utica
Plymouth State @ Geneseo
Plattsburgh @ Curry

Quarterfinal:
Plattsburgh/Curry@ Hobart
Plymouth State/Geneseo @ Trinity
Norwich/Utica @ Elmira
Bethel/Stevens Point @ Augsburg/Adrian

The pairwise is a log jam right now. Trine was solidly in the top 10 and dropped almost 20 spots this weekend after a loss and OT win against Lawrence. Too many 4-6 loss teams.

#17 St. Norbert beat #2 Adrian 6-2 so they will drop in the ratings. That should push Elmira back to hosting them.

Skidmore is at #11 in PWR. Why not in the mix?
