2024-25 Penn State Nittany Lions

After two, Penn State is up 3-0 on Katelyn Roberts' second goal of the game. Shots on goal are 33-10 for Penn State, and penalties are 3 for Robert Morris and 1 for Penn State.

Penn State takes game one by a score of 5-0 on third period goals from McKenna Walsh and Tessa Janecke. Shots on goal ended at 51-22 for Penn State, and both teams took 5 penalties. Back at it at 3:00 tomorrow.

Lobdell had a nice stretch pass to a suddenly on fire Makenna Walsh to get the d scoring record. What a mistake Robert Morris made cancelling their program. Six or so players transferred to Ohio State when the program disbanded fueling OSU into a new era.

I couldn't agree more - they had built their program up to be contending with Mercyhurst, and now they're back at square one with a long way to go.

After one at Robert Morris, Penn State is up 1-0 on a goal from Abby Stonehouse. Shots on goal are already 25-5 for Penn State, and penalties are 3 for Robert Morris and 1 for Penn State.

I don't know why Kampersal pulled Katie Desa and put Lauren Barbro in net, but now it's 3-2 Penn State on goals from Brianna Brooks and Nicole Hall. Shots on goal are 49-12 for Penn State, and penalties are 7 for Robert Morris and 3 for Penn State.

You can't run your goalie into the ground, Barbro and Spring should help carry the load. Janecke went around that d like a traffic cone.

Penn State gets the sweep by a score of 5-2, on a third period goal from Leah Stecker and a shorthanded beauty from Tessa Janecke. Shots on goal were 61-19 for Penn State, and penalties were 8 for Robert Morris and 5 for Penn State. Robert Morris had a little more game in them today than they did yesterday, but they were obviously outmatched in this series.

Looking at the AHA standings after this weekend's games, Penn State is 12 points up on Mercyhurst now, after Mercyhurst and RIT ended in a tie today and cost Mercyhurst a point. With only four games left for everybody, and 12 points available, that means Penn State can win the regular season title in any of the remaining four games as long as they don't lose in regulation. They can go to OT and lose (which gets them one point), and still win the regular season title.

Great analysis and Mercyhurst is next on tap for PSU and then PSU gets to travel to RIT. All roads lead through Mercyhurst. I think Kampersal has said Hengelmuller should be returning against Mercyhurst. Garcia had three assists in the second Robert Morris game which is nice to see. There hasn't been an update on Vaslet in awhile. I found an article on the Collegian which highlighted Wakefield would be working with players. The Canadian Olympian was a nice in season hire.

There are two more former PSU players playing in Sweden: Mikayla Lantto and Rachel Weiss.

In the NCAA's: Jess Cariochi, Brown Univ, has 5 goals 3 assists, Lexi Bedier, Concordia in Canada, has 5 goals 5 assists and Maeve Connolly, Stone Hill has 4 goals and 4 assists.

Bedier seems to be following a trend of more Canadian girls returning to Canada to finish their college hockey career.

Well, here we go - Penn State faces Mercyhurst this weekend and can clinch the regular season title with a win in either game. Penn State is also two wins away from setting the all-time conference wins record, currently held by the 2012-13 Mercyhurst team. Yeah, it's kind of a big weekend at Penn State. Don't think for a second that Mercyhurst is coming to watch Penn State clinch the title...Mike Sisti always has his team ready at the end of the season, so this will be a good series, and a good preview of the AHA conference tournament.

Saturday is Senior Day, and Penn State has Brianna Brooks, Lyndie Lobdell, Annie Spring, Alyssa Machado, Lauren Barbro, Karley Garcia, and Tiffany Hill listed as being honored. That's good news as far as senior Mya Vaslet goes, as she will apparently be back next season.

This weekend's Mercyhurst series is streaming on BTN+.

Sisti is a strategist, what he throws at PSU this weekend may end up being vanilla compared to what you might see in a couple of weeks.

Boucher would have really helped Mercyhurst this year. It's great news Vaslet is not listed as a senior for senior weekend. PSU has really been bolstered by players playing that extra year at PSU.

The program should have top 5 crowds for attendance and may break records this weekend with a 6 pm Fri game and a Saturday afternoon game. Senior weekend, Mercyhurst, a great record, free tickets and a number of promotions should help get attendance up.

Hopefully, the pep band is in attendance.

It was fantastic to see the roar zone travel to Pittsburgh.

Social media efforts need to get back to where it was a couple of years ago though.

Wow, what a first period! Mercyhurst is up 3-2, and Penn State got goals from Maddy Christian and Grace Outwater. Shots on goal are 11-7 for Penn State, and Mercyhurst took the only penalty. That looks like a score you'd expect at the end of a game against Mercyhurst, not the beginning, but it is what it is. Clean game so far, no chipiness, just some good hockey from two good teams.

After two, it's tied up 3-3 on a goal from Abby Stonehouse. Shots on goal are 31-11 for Penn State, and penalties are 3 for Mercyhurst and 1 for Penn State. Penn State got more extended play in the Mercyhurst zone in the second period.

Penn State wins the regular season title 4-3 on an OT goal from Lyndie Lobdell. Shots on goal ended at 43-16 for Penn State, and penalties were 3 for Mercyhurst and 1 for Penn State.
