2024-25 Penn State Nittany Lions

Mercyhurst wins their semifinal match against Syracuse 5-2 on two late empty-netters.

So, once again, it's Penn State and Mercyhurst playing for the conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament. The AHA championship game is next Saturday, March 8, at Penn State's Pegula Ice Arena (time is still to be announced).

There's a pretty good chance Penn State makes the NCAAs regardless. Both Clarkson and St Lawrence would have to do big things in the ECAC tournament to get past Penn State in the NPI/Pairwise to knock Penn State out.

I really don't like the conference name change, it was kind of fun to say that you were playing for all the charbles. Syracuse definitely improved over the year. Robertearle gives some great insight. Scanlin for Mercyhurst is making a strong claim for Frosh of the year. It would be nice to see Cailey Thalman guest announce and do on the spot reporting for the game. Penn State should reach out to the blue guy and comp him some tickets and of course the band too. While the administrators are at it, make another free scouting day for the kids and try to get attendance up to 1700.

I hope Syracuse and RIT continue their upward swings. I'm glad Penn State has worked their way to the top of the conference now, but having more than the same two teams playing for the championship every year would be good for the conference. Mercyhurst has been strong forever, and pretty much the test for every other conference program, and now Penn State is there, too, and hopefully for the long haul like Mercyhurst has been.

Well that's good to hear!
