2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Two tough games with UML hopefully they can take a third W at the Tsongas Friday. Hopefully everyone is healthy for Friday and then the Beanpot game Monday.

I don't know what to expect with this game tonight but I don't like it. Sandwiched in between a sweep of #1 BU and the Beanpot rematch, and Lowell has been absolutely ghastly lately. I don't like it.

It's certainly got all the elements of a trap game. Hopefully they took note of BU-Northeastern on Tuesday night.

Apparently there was no reason to be worried about last night after all. Business taken care of. On to the Beanpot on Monday.

Didn't deserve to win this one. They'll realize next week at 4:30 playing in front of their parents and girlfriends that they should have gotten off the bus for the first period. They didn't quit but no-show start (for the late game!) doesn't cut it in this tournament.

Happy for Shamburger, guy's been playing great hockey for a few weeks, that whole line played well again. Feel bad for Fowler - none were his fault. Defense better be out to prove something these next few weeks - they were horrific and handed BU their 3rd and 4th goals.

Same old BC.

AGreed bad first period, I think there were some nerves in the first for Fowler but the turnovers were uncharacteristic of this team, BU had 20 shots on goal in the first. BU was hanging on in the third, some great chances but no dice. The USA line was terrific and I loved the Shamberger scored, Joyce did a good job taking the puck away and finding the open Shamberger. The third goal was all Leonard, didn't give up on, fought for it and got it to Perreault on a nice feed. Played two good periods, but BU is a very good team and you can't give them open looks.

Brown let this one get away but has more chances later in the HE Tournament and NCAA hopefully.

Maybe winning the first two 9 days ago lulled them into complacency and over confidence which is deadly. You cannot play too relaxed and make so many mistakes time after time against a team like this. Let it be a lesson and in a way it was not unexpected. Beating a team a 3rd time is a task in 9 days is a tall order but let's move on to the rest of the season and position themselves in a good situation.

BU did not let the foot off the pedal and give them credit after BC made it 2-1. Too little too late and all those cliches for BC.

Another senior class with no Beanpot trophy and this is getting old and familiar.

They will take it out on UNH.

This loss reminded me of many Len Ceglarski losses in the Beanpot. Not ready to play, horrible defensive turnovers and a late comeback bid that falls short. I’m very disappointed with Greg Brown.

Agreed. Ouch, Reminded me of those 80s teams, that were often good and not ready on the 1st Monday of February for the better part of two decades. That said, I think BC was actually the better team for 60% or 70 % of the game. If they were to play ten times I bet BC wins 6 or 7. Could be their age too young team, many playing in their 1st pot, some playing in front of greater than 10k peeps perhaps for the 1st time. So hoping NU can knock them off but I wouldn't bet on it.

I'm not gonna get carried away over losing a game after you just swept them. In many ways it was predictable. Good chance you see BU again, possibly twice. Good opportunity for Brown to use this game as a way to improve on what they did wrong. BU had a 4th place finish in last year's Beanpot. In the end it really doesn't mean much.

Nor am I. I figured it was going to be very difficult to beat a team that good 3 times in a row. I do note that it's three games in a row against BU where BU came out of the gate with the better of it. This time BC finally got burned, were down 2 goals with the first 8 minutes and then despite a valiant effort, could never catch up. I agree that hopefully it is a lesson learned and now let's see them take out their frustrations on UNH Friday evening.

Those of us who lived and experienced this understand. I have watched BC sports for a long time since high school. I will be close to 7 decades old and believe me I feel your pain

Yeah, okay. Keep telling yourself that. : )

Now, now. Just in regard to the course of your season. Obviously the goal is to win! Had BC lost two one goal games to BU a week ago I would almost expect BC to get over that hump and win the Beanpot matchup. What sucks is all the casual fan registers is that BU won the Beanpot game. Now I will be rooting for another shootout in the Beanpot final just like last year so we can continue to hammer home how stupid it is that the NCAA forced the format to be changed.

I still say the Beanpot schools should engage in civil disobedience, play the five-minute OT for the Pairwise, then continue the game for the tournament's sake. As someone said last year, what can the NCAA do, throw them out of the tournament? Replace them with Stonehill, Lowell, Sacred Heart and Bentley?

Well, that was an authoritative performance tonight. Looks like they'll be without Fortescue for a game though. And #6 for UNH is a dirtbag.
