2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

The fourth line was tremendous tonight especially Gentry Shamburger; probably his best game as an Eagle. He was all over the place. Third line was also very good. Those bottom two lines just got pucks deep and had a disruptive forecheck putting in good minutes. Shamburger almost buried one too but they generated zone time and some looks at the net from the forecheck. Everyone stepped up and played well and the depth really shined tonight. Gasseau also stood out. Fowler is still a huge difference maker. A few posts helped too but each team could have had a bunch of goals in the 2nd period.

Particularly striking was the general poise in the charged environment (BU also deserves credit for this). Smart and hard is the way to play with this much talent.

Seemed like an insane crowd. Playing with house money tomorrow, just be smart and stay out of the box and see if you can steal one on the road.

Yup Leonard avoided getting unsportsmen like penalties as oppose to last weekend against MC.

Just a great game between two great teams. Great all around effort and happy to come away with the win. I imagine BU will come out loaded for bear tomorrow night, but BC has had a lot of success at Agganis.

With this win it takes some pressure off BC as I was predicting a split this weekend

hopefully BC can put in another good effort tonight at HAA and get that first goal

Agree with Carmen on all points, solid throughout the line up. Both teams competed hard, Caron was very good, the second goal was a break down by the defense, not much chance to save that one. The first goal was a seeing eye shot by Leonard, he scored from the same spot a couple games ago, great shot. BC seemed to neutralize Lane Hutson, he was good but he did not dominate which is what he can do. Atmosphere was great, everyone got there money's worth.

Speaking of money's worth when I looked the other day tickets were going for like $150-170 each on the cheap end lol...great to see this level of interest post COVID.

Caron probably wants the Leonard goal back but when you see the shot from behind the net you can see just how much Leonard got on it. Missile.

Great play by BC defender to break up pass from behind the net and then make a calm pass to teammate who banked it out to Gauthier.

BU hadn't played in an extra attacker situation since Thanksgiving and it showed. They allowed both BC defenders to make uncontested clear passes to get the puck out of the zone to the streaking forward for the ENG. Horrible, horrible execution.

Hats off to these guys, really hard fought series, last night they had one power play to kill tonight it was six. Yikes, including one too many men. Fowler was temendous, right up to the last 10 seconds. The USA line is just scary good and Gauthier is a terrific two way player.

Interesting weekend and you gotta love a sweep of the #1 Terriers. Didn't seem like they brought their A game tonight, maybe B- game and they still gutted out a win. Fowler is our best player (and was the best player on the ice all weekend long) and that's why they got two Ws this weekend. They did not seem sharp at all for the majority of the first two periods, bobbling pucks, falling down, and losing battles. But they were the better team in the third when it's winning time.

Posma was great tonight (and last night). Jellvik had two assists but had a rough first period with the bad pass across the blue line in a 4x4 and then a penalty that was not necessary at all with BC on the PP late in the first that led to BU's first goal. The Cutter goal was a crucial one and seemed to stun BU who was dominating up to that point; they got a little too aggressive and the third forward got too deep and the BC lob led to the goal. How about that sublime pass back to Smith from Bengtsson on the fourth goal?

Gasseau was a beast again tonight and the PK unit and D altogether really does an amazing job of blocking shots and passes. Bengtsson has been a tremendous portal pickup. Powell is criminally underrated and is playing amazing hockey; probably should be first team AA with Hutson.

Enjoy it and be ready because Lowell is going to be cranky (4 straight losses and 1-7 in their last 8) and will be hunting a #1 on Friday night in a tough place to play for BC.

Brownie seems to be doing a great job on recruiting. Besides the hagens brothers, it looks like sondreal is currently leading the USHL in scoring (!) and with Gavin cornforth make up the top two in points for the Dubuque fighting saints in the USHL. The younger hagens brother—a potential #1draft pick—and teddy stiga are the top two in points for the usndp team. That said Pitka and Frost haven’t done much as rookies in the bchl. Heisenberg also lists three new commits in dean latourneau (love the influx of French Canadian names), will skahan, and graham jones. Don’t know much about these guys.

I obviously didn't expect a sweep. I didn't think they would be THIS good this year. I wasn't entirely sold on Greg Brown but he's proving he is the right man for the job. Winning trophies is difficult but he has them back where they should be.

Letorneau has shot up draft boards. With his size i am wondering if he's another Brian Boyle. Skahan was a good get too. You're right on Frost though. He's scuffling.

unless a kid is an absolute super star at age 15 or 16, it's a crapshoot committing kids before they play in the USHL

Fowler is the genuine article. He was the difference tonight. Just about every night, the USA line is going to get you eventually, it's just a question of how and when. They may be the best line in the NCAA already. Just scary good.

It's been awhile since BC has had a big thumper on D. I'm looking forward to Skahan filling that role.

And agree. This was Fowler’s weekend. He played great both nights. Keeping the bc goalie legacy going. We’ve had some absolutely great ones over the years.

LazyEye, Dean Letourneau had originally committed to Northeastern in Nov of 2022. His play this fall caught attention. Some mentions of him possibly breaking into the first round of the next draft. Broke ties to NU and very quickly committed to BC.
