2017-2018 D1 Women's Hockey Scores

UConn 2 Providence 1 final - next weekend BC/UConn, Maine/NE in HE semi's

I really bad for the Friars. A much improved regular season sadly ends in the first round of their playoffs. I was only able to tune in just after the penalty call that led to the 5 vs 3 PP for UConn which then led to the eventual GWG. Did the refs do a good job or was it a suspect call?

Re: 2017-2018 D1 Women's Hockey Scores

So excited for BC's game next Saturday to not be streamed live anywhere..............................................................................

Syracuse is on doing as expected vs RIT in the first round if the CHA playoffs. They're up 3-0 after one period of play and they lead in shots 13-5. 2 even strength goals and a shortie. The later game between Lindenwood and Penn State will obviously be much less of a formality than this game is. RIT's last win is 25 games ago on November 4th, a 2-1 OT steal of a win at BU where they were outshot 51-25. If they lose today their record for the season will be 4-28-3 overall and 1-19-0 in-conference.

Imagine going winless for the next 25 games in a row! I feel so bad for the players. This is barely better than the winless season at Union (0-28-6 overall, 0-19-3 in-conference) just two years ago. Perhaps the same off-season administrative decision will be made about this head coach. I'm sure that would be the players' vote.

According to livestats the score is 1-0 for Lindenwood after two periods of play. Looks like shots are 14-13 Lindenwood. Penn State are masters at tie games so I'm expecting OT in this one.

Scoring first is very important for both of these teams. Although as you pointed out, PSU winds up tied at the end much of the time no matter who scores first.

Penn State wins 2-1 on third-period goals by Welch and Heising.

Yes, but what if the team that scores first also scores the second goal, such that they have both The Hardest Lead in Hockey to Defend and The All Important First Goal?

Well, we'll never know as far as this game went. However, Penn State had only one win in 21 previous games when allowing the first goal, and Lindenwood had won 9 of 12 when scoring first; I guess that's why they say statistics are for losers. :o

Well they're already down 1-0 to RMU in the first 1:15 so not a good sign!

And it's knotted at 1 apiece 4:54 into the 1st period on a PSU power play!

Now 2-1 RMU 8:53 into the game.

Now 3-1 with 4:05 left in the 1st period.

And that's how the 1st period ends. Shots are 15-7 RMU.

1-1 Mercyhurst Syracuse after 1. Collegehockeystats indicates Syracuse has their freshman in net, after senior Abbey Miller played yesterday. Anyone know if Miller is hurt, or if D’Astous Morea has played big games this year? I believe she is a former Canada U18 player, fwiw.

Re: 2017-2018 D1 Women's Hockey Scores

2-2 Cuse Hurst early in the third. College hockey stats was originally showing a ten minute misconduct for abuse of an official by Mercyhurst. Then it was changed to 2 mins for holding. Yeesh.

If Cuse’s goalie is going on all name lists I should clarify it’s Edith D’Astous-Moreau ... her name is cut off on college hockey stats.

Anyway, if Edith could let some goals in that would be great.

Eventually, but I'd say that Edith played pretty darn well. Despite 40 saves by her, Mercyhurst 3-2 in OT.

Re: 2017-2018 D1 Women's Hockey Scores

Emma Nuutinen from Vilma Tanskanen in OT, Lakers win!

That’s Nuutinen’s second OT goal vs Syracuse this year. I believe she also ended Ohio State’s playoff hopes last year in OT, while wearing a jersey a slightly different shade of green.

So a pretty easy win for RMU in the first semi compared to an OT battle for Hurst in the second semi. Which team has the advantage for tomorrow?
