2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Quinnipiac @ Harvard is Saturday 4pm.

I wonder when they'll schedule the Harvard-Yale men's basketball playoff in Philly -- I'd heard the same time had been rumored.

I'm actually hoping that it is Saturday evening so that I have a chance to see the women at 4 and head home to catch the men on whatever channel broadcasts the game (assuming that the game is televised).

It really blows that we have to play the Bobcats for the fourth time this season. I knew it was tight between BU and Quinny for the 5 and 6 slots. I'm wondering if there was any consideration for sending Quinnipiac to BC and Clarkson to Harvard.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Not too happy about the draw that BU got. I would have much rather had another shot at Harvard after the beat down we took last time as opposed to going out west to face UW and if we somehow win, face Minny just to get to the championship game. Very difficult bracket. It's too bad too because as others have mentioned, I think the bracket could have been improved as well by avoiding the intraconference matchup between Harvard and Quinnipiac.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

The NCAA said RIT's record is 15-8-5, but it's really 15-18-5.

Musta used the wrong "delete leading bit" software algorithm. :D (Leading bit means negative).

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Okay, 9 goal loss

No team has hung more than 5 goals on RIT all season, and that was with a slew of injuries (including to Binnington).

I'm not saying 9 goals is impossible -- this is Minnesota we're talking about -- just that it's ridiculous to think it's in any way a foregone conclusion.

Do people not understand hyperbole on this board?

It may not be 9 goals but that game is absolutely a foregone conclusion.

quit your complaining

point #1 - at least you don't have to play BC again like would have happened if BSU had beaten WI, they'd play MN, then play WI if they won, this has never made sense except to you eastern folks

point #2 - you play in the crappiest D1 league*, you win one game and get an invite to NCAA

* CHA is D1.5

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

TRavel question. BU goes out to Badger land for the quarters. If they happen to win, would they fly home and return to the midwest a mere 5 days later, or would they stay in the mid west, ride up to the twin cities and stay there for Natties. ?

St Lawrence stayed in Minneapolis for 10 days for their Gopher series early this year around the holidays so it's not unheard of. I believe in this case they would fly home and then fly back again to visit a few days later.

Hmm...If I were managing the team, I would have then stay in the area. Off course you need to worry about time off school, and school and NCAA regulations, but IMHO it would be easier on the team to stay in the area, focus on practicing and a steady routine as opposed to more airport and fly time, both of which can be taxing and disruptive at the best of time. JMO.

RIT beat Penn State in the tournament, so they should fare better than PSU did in Ridder.

Close, but RIT didn't play Penn State in the CHA tournament. They played Mercyhurst, and Penn State played Syracuse.

Quite your complaining. BU would have made the NCAA Tournament even if BC had won.

Not everyone gets your hyperbole. :)

I was going to make a lame joke about conic sections, and lo and behold, when I looked it up, it turns out that there is actually a rhetorical device called "parabole" just as there is a rhetorical device called "hyperbole." Each spelled with an "e" at the end instead of an "a." This is twice in two days I've learned something really esoteric from this board (the other being Hugh de Merville).

"2.(rhetoric) The explicit drawing of a parallel between two essentially dissimilar things, especially with a moral or didactic purpose. A parable."

Yeah leave it to someone named "Watson" to do the research. :) Seriously though...Well Done. !!

I would guess that BU would fly home. The SLU case was during break I'm pretty sure -- missing an entire week of school probably wouldn't be ideal.

Plus it's not like Minneapolis is the next town over.
