2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

If they are following the parirwise to the letter, why are they idiots?

Because they're the NCAA. They're always idiots even in the rare cases when they surprise us by doing something that isn't stupid.

If they are following the parirwise to the letter, why are they idiots? Isn't that that all out the all out bracket integrity we desire?
I mean, it's totally to the letter, which I'm fine with, but they had an opportunity for a halfway decent bracket with justification written right into the rulebook but they didn't go for it.

I'm guessing there was a debate about it though. Personally I'm thrilled you guys will get to do our dirty work for us and eliminate BU.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Any guesses, or does anyone know when these games will happen?

Gophers are at 4PM Central on Saturday the 14th
Wisconsin is at 2PM Central on Saturday the 14th

I think they were referring to the NCAA editing RIT's record so they are above .500

I fixed your post.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Quinnipiac @ Harvard is Saturday 4pm.

I wonder when they'll schedule the Harvard-Yale men's basketball playoff in Philly -- I'd heard the same time had been rumored.

Don't inflate my ego :p

Right? That intro was ridiculous.

Personally I'm glad they just came right out with it but the intro was goofy.

Once again I missed the entire presentation, as I always do. When I clicked on the link it froze my computer, and by the time I had rebooted, the Show was over, once again. So I've never seen it. I fantasize that the committee appears all dressed in morning coats and cravattes, like the Punxitawney Phil show, with various rodent/furry mascots squirming in their hands, and orate about Pairwise comparisons and resolve all the thorny bracketology issues we deal with on this board, and representatives of the TUCs dressed in their respective team sweaters all smile and say "my, we never thought of seeding it that way, of course this is the best of all possible brackets," but then I've never been able to witness it so I don't know.

You don't think it's available for replay on some archive somewhere, eh?

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Nice job Tony, enjoyed all your predicting this weekend.

Now why couldn't BC just do it's job and win today? I'm still hoping to make it up to Minneapolis for the Frozen Four, and this ruins my chance of seeing a MN/WI final every time I make the trip. Plus, I do think a WI/BC game would have been very interesting, and I don't see a Frozen Four at Ridder as being the day where the Gophers end their streak over Bucky (assuming the high seeds can get past the first round of course).

Really brilliant to select a neutral court that nobody from Harvard or Yale can get to. By contrast, the H-Princeton playoff a few years ago was held at Yale, halfway between the two contestants (duh). Perhaps the thought was that the Palaestra is traditionally the Home of the Tuesday Night Ivy League Championship Game (when travel buddies Penn and Princeton schedule their final game three days after the Ivy season has ended for everybody else because OF COURSE either Penn or Princeton is entitled to win the league year after year....)

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

They've already played Hugh de Morville for us. They might as well do the same for you.

Great allusion! Had to look it up (my copy of Murder in the Cathedral must have fallen out of my back pocket!)

Was hoping it would be at Brown or something near here, would've been an exciting game to watch.
