I don't think we've ever had no teams "also receiving votes" since starting this last year but that's really a technicality with two teams tied for 10th.

I didn't move the top 8 from last week, I think the results mostly reaffirmed where I think everyone belongs rather than change what I thought. NoDak put up a decent weekend against Minnesota but didn't do enough to warrant moving up since they still went 0-1-1. Clarkson looks to be very good right now but QU I think still deserves the spot higher even with the loss. Northeastern I had in 4th last week and QU's loss just reaffirmed that.

Princeton had a very very nice weekend and deserves that 9 spot for sure now. Colgate 10th with the split weekend but the win against QU definitely impressive enough to give them 10th.

Harvard might be gone for good. There is a very clear top 10 now in my opinion.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I'm curious what people think here -- Do people this Ohio State or UConn is a better team? The WCHA bias/WHEA embarrassment in me instinctively says Ohio State, but every ranking system we have has UConn higher. UConn is 19th in KRACH which is surprising.

I thought of this because UConn scoring 4 goals on BC made me scratch my head, but even if not "good" UConn is higher ranked than I thought them to be. And Wisconsin didn't exactly impress against OSU.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

1. BC: Didn't get Chulied but nearly got Stotted, which is much more unusual, so points for originality.
2. Wisco: Production has dropped closer to what we were expecting this year, but defense is still rock solid.
3. Minny: Had the edge against UND but weren't able to come away with the six points, even with Kessel
4. Quinni: Startled by Colgate but still have the edge on anyone below.
5. Clarkson: Intriguing match with Princeton to come. Hard to place against really good teams.
6. Northeastern: Impressive streak going.
7. North Dakota: Unlucky not to come away from the weekend with more.
8. Colgate: Win over Quinni = possibly the real deal.
9. Bemidji: Only downside surprises left this season.
10. Princeton: Good win over Colgate, very good win over Cornell ("the Big Rubbish"), not clear if they're a big-game team.

Did not receive consideration: Harvard.

Problem is that both OSU and UConn are teams with low firepower. OSU are worse in goal but maybe better on the ice. Any team that's typically involved in low-scoring games with its peers is hard to get a handle on because games could have gone either way. My sense is that if Michaela Cava had not left UConn for UMD, UConn would be a program that would have scored a few upset victories this year. But you can also say that if Jincy Dunne was healthy, OSU would have had a shot at challenging UMD for fifth in the WCHA.

So the answer is "yes".

UConn is more consistent. They are a far better defensive team, game in and game out. Ohio State has a lot more offensive potential, but they have trouble stringing strong games together. Sometimes against a team like the Buckeyes, they play well and the pucks don't go in, so the game appears closer than it was. Had BC played a 2-1 game against UConn, I'd have thought, fine, that's what happened. But 5-4 against a team that struggles to score was peculiar. In the end, I'll call it an outlier and mostly disregard it.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

THE BIG THREE
1. Boston College - Their impressive win streak puts them here, it's rolling over weak HE competition that makes me uncertain.
2. Wisconsin - Might be the best team in the land. I guess it's a waiting game until playoffs and tournament until we know.
3. Minnesota - Heavy weighs the crown. Of the big three, the only one showing a chink in the armor.

THE FEROCIOUS FOUR
4. Quinnipiac - Impressive unbeaten streak ended. Looking in the rear-view mirror at Clarkson.
5. Clarkson - It's all coming together for the stretch run. Playing QU this coming weekend. Must see TV.
6. Bemidji - Take Badgers and Gophers off the schedule, and this might be your #4 team.
7. North Dakota - Ditto, but slightly behind BSU (look at ND vs BSU head-to-head, and a couple of lapses during season).

THE THIRD "TEAR" (on a tear...)
8. Princeton - You beat Colgate, and the only recent blemish was that loss to Harvard. Most improved team of the year?
9. Northeastern - The last time they had a formidable opponent, we were eating turkey. We'll see on Tuesday if my ranking is wrong.
10. Colgate - The little engine that could. Consistently good and a tough out (unlike Harvard, who they have now displaced in all rankings).

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I promise, I'm not criticizing or trying to influence. What is everyone loving about Northeastern? Their win streak looks like it's against teams that everyone in the top 10 would go undefeated against. Am I missing something? I mean... I get putting them in the top 10, they are good. But why so high?
